[UPDATED] Is Gay Porn Star Cameron Diggs A White Supremacist?

Is he?

Cameron Diggs has been embraced by the gay porn industry (what white guy with tattoos hasn’t), having worked with RagingHotFalcon, CockyBoys, and NakedSword in 2016. The belief that he is a white supremacist (or at least someone who sympathizes with the white power movement and/or Nazis) stems from the two Iron Cross tattoos he has on the upper left and right sides of his chest:

The Iron Cross—a military decoration used in Nazi Germany—is sometimes accompanied by swastikas and other symbols of Nazi propaganda:

The Anti-Defamation League database explains:

The Iron Cross is a famous German military medal dating back to the 19th century. During the 1930s, the Nazi regime in Germany superimposed a swastika on the traditional medal, turning it into a Nazi symbol. After World War II, the medal was discontinued but neo-Nazis and other white supremacists subsequently adopted it as a hate symbol and it has been a commonly-used hate symbol ever since.

In the United States, however, the Iron Cross also became one of several Nazi-era symbols adopted by outlaw bikers, more to signify rebellion or to shock than for any white supremacist ideology. By the early 2000s, this other use of the Iron Cross had spread from bikers to skateboarders and many extreme sports enthusiasts and became part of the logo of several different companies producing equipment and clothing for this audience. Consequently, the use of the Iron Cross in a non-racist context has greatly proliferated in the United States, to the point that an Iron Cross in isolation (i.e., without a superimposed swastika or without other accompanying hate symbols) cannot be determined to be a hate symbol. Care must therefore be used to correctly interpret this symbol in whatever context in which it may be found.

Str8UpGayPorn has reached out to Cameron Diggs for his own explanation on the tattoos. As of post time, he has not responded.

Given the ADL’s explanation and the use of the Iron Cross in popular culture, it’s reasonable to assume that Diggs is not a white supremacist, and that he did not get the tattoos because he believes in white power. Given the history and implications of the symbol, however, an Iron Cross is still an incredibly dumb thing to have painted onto your body.

UPDATE:

As a commenter has just pointed out below, in addition to the Iron Cross, Cameron Diggs also has an SS Bolts tattoo on his right hip, which is yet another Nazi symbol. The combination of the SS Bolts and the Iron Cross can’t be a coincidence, and I’m now more inclined to believe that Cameron Diggs is in fact a white supremacist.

    That’s the old Prussian Cross dating back to the Teutonic Knights of the Middle Ages. It became the ‘Iron Cross’ military medal (Pour le Merité) during the wars of Frederick the Great in the 18th century. The Nazis simply co-opted it.

    I can say, from personal experience, that I know a lot of White guys who have iron cross tats who are not white supremacists. So, unless he pops off at the mouth like horseface, we cannot say for certain. The tats of all those women, on the other hand, are a turn-off.     In any case, there IS a history of fetishization of fascist imagery among some gay men, and many projects have been done on the homoerotic appeal of the kind of fascist masculinity we see with Nazis and elsewhere. Which is to say, the idea that there are some gay men who worship Nazi symbols isn’t surprising or hard to believe, even though the Nazis themselves persecuted gay people. You could probably find some very alarming similarities between the sexual and aesthetic appeal of Tom of Finland-style leather daddies and S&M imagery and the uniforms of fascist regimes.

      if i remember correctly, Tom of Finland was indeed quite inspired by the Wehrmacht soldiers in Finland during the war (Finland has a complex history between nazi Germany and the USSR in the second ww), with whom he had many sexual experiences.

      However I don’t necessarily agree that it’s bad just because it’s biker imagery. Images and icons starting with a specific meaning can significantly change it for the people with time (the swastika is one of the examples, considering it’s good symbol in some cultures.

    Having grown up poor white trash I’m accustomed to seeing tattoos more overt than any thing this boys got from the guys who had rough lives. I’m not condoning racism I’m saying wait to he goes all JD Phoenix or Paul Cannon because something strange happens to men when they grow up. So much of that crap that seemed meaningful at 17 is worthless by 22.     Actually guys the studios don’t have to go out looking for white racist most of the models already are racist. The problem is that they don’t know that they are racist.

    Guys like Paul Canon and Ian Levine and Ava leading don’t think that they are racists. Troy Ryan say’s Blacks dont get work at his studio because nobody wants to see blacks and he wonders what all the fuss is about when people get mad.

    I’ve seen models work with all kinds of guys fat guys, out of shape guys, ugly guys, but the one thing they all have in common is that they are all white.There’s no way they could be attracted to all of those guys, but if the director puts a black guy in front of them they say no.

    A lot of the studio bosses don’t like to hire Blacks or Asians, they will hire white looking Latino models though. I’m talking about Falcon, Next Door. Helix, Corbin Fisher, Sean Cody. The list goes on.

    Hmm. Can’t say as that I think Mr. Diggs is the first – or last – ‘gay for pay’ (how I hate that term) performer with some issues. Some are doing time for serious crime, some have gone off the rails and are dead (one way or another), some make asshole statements and disappear from the landscape (don’t think names are required). Maybe they do identify as ‘straight’ (although is I had been fucked by two hundred men during my career, I might have questions). Maybe Mr. Diggs is a supremacist – which is pretty unforgiveable, especially given the current climate. Do not misunderstand me – if those are his politics, they are not to be tolerated. But the fact is, we objectify these guys – we seem attracted to ‘straight boys’ (while many of them are, indeed, gay), we ‘watch’ there videos (nudge, wink), and take to the ‘net to diss them. Sometimes they might be convicted before trial – done that, myself – but the strongest message we can send is to simply stop watching there videos – maybe let the studio know how you feel and why. We do have a voice.
