holy shit the quantity and quality of women was astounding!

You didn't pull a single one did you

simply being okay with other people's pasttimes is often enough. Being willing to dive into a game with them puts you in a different category. No one wants to date the guy that looks down on them for liking what they like. xD

Facebook adds and phone numbers only. All 18-26. I'm 39.

Nerdy/gamer girls can be thirsty AF and often make good plates.

It's important to Game them only IRL. They usually have a ton of orbiters on social media/twitch/Steam as they spend most of their free time online. Adding them on social media will instantly drag you into their orbit. Use only text messages to set up meetings.

This x7. Also don't forget to hit up real gyms (as opposed to Pokémon gyms) so you physically stand out from the orbiters.

IMO Game is actually a thing that will make you stand out from other guys.

This Pokemon thing is good ice breaker, takes away awkwardness that cold approaches usually create, but it is also a trap that can land you into friendzone if it's the only topic you discuss with a girl.

[–]2 Senior Endorsed Contributorvengefully_yours 1

I have a 19 yo who is "offended" I won't friend her. Yet every time she hears me show up online, she cheerfully says hiiiiiiii... Yeah, unless I decide I want her out of my view, she won't get added. Besides all I use Facebook for its car shit. Zero pics of me, only my cars and my dogs, only family and car contacts as friends.

Do you know how many men would be baited into showing off fake numbers of bedded women just for the sake of their ego? "Oh yeah well out of the 37 phone numbers I got I fucked 20 of them just last night, they were lining up outside my door."

Apart from some of the fictional field reports, I've never seen honesty on the scale of what I've seen on RP, your post especially. It's refreshing. I'm sure it's only a matter of time before some of those phone numbers lead to more plates.

So you called him a creep and a looser to shame him into behaving in a way which you deem to be appropriate. A common tactic for those still stuck seeing the world through the blue lense is to attempt to police behaviors with buzzwords. 'Creep' is a great one for men as no guy wants to be the creep.

The man above you was shaming the guy who now has deleted his post. Why? Maybe in part to make himself feel good, but more likely to shame him into pushing himself, to push that weak minded attitude out of him.

You let your fee fees get in the way and attempted to shame with lame buzzwords the shaming which should motive him to cut that weak attitude out and go for it. He's a man, he should be able to take it.

This is somewhat a trend, but it's completely amazing and incredible if this is the direction gaming is going. The fact that it uses the real world as it's playing arena is amazing, and really is the future. Imagine and MMO where instead of sitting in a chair in front of a computer to go on a quest or something, you have to go somewhere on earth to do so. That's completely incredible to me.

Drive anywhere around a decently large city or town and you see flocks of people outside playing this game, however, wonder how that will change in the winter time or places where it's ball shrinking cold.

Some kids found a dead body in a river while playing it. Many people are getting robbed as well. It's good stuff all around.

Pokemon go is stupid and for children! Just kidding my cheap ass phone and low data won't let me play it, totes jelly. I did play it for a couple of days, i was asked by a police officer why i was at a cemetery at 3am, I told him alakazam bro!!!

This isn't the first game to do this. This real world arena thing has been around since there were smart phones.

What other games? I haven't heard of any until Pokémon go. I was thinking a bunch of other game developers would jump on the real world concept asap though.

Ingress was released years ago, developed by the same studio as Pokemon Go and served as a foundation for it. Other than that though I don't know any mobile AR games either

One I used to play is called Ingress. You go to physical locations that are pumping out energy fields and you can attack them or something. Pretty interesting.

Imagine and MMO where instead of sitting in a chair in front of a computer to go on a quest or something, you have to go somewhere on earth to do so.

That is not a new idea. Its like saying World of Warcraft was the first MMORPG. Pokemon branded better and simplified what the predecessors had done.

Nah imo this is somewhat specific to Pokemon since one of the main premises of the game is SEARCHING and CATCHING a creature.

Pokemons most popular phrase is "Gotta catch em all", so people are mainly anchored by their love of the show and its ability to become a part of people's actual lives.

I highly doubt that games such as WOW or MMOs translate well in real life games. I mean it's not a basic premise in those games to SEARCH and CATCH creatures so the awesome challenge is not existent. In fact, I fucking hate travelling very long distances in those games, let alone real life distances.

Can confirm. A buddy and I did this in the middle of the square in our downtown area on Saturday. Dropped lures on two side-by-side pokestops with a pokegym situated within range as well. It was just us there when we started. Within 20 minutes, over 40 people had shown up with about a 50/50 M/F ratio. We chatted up several of the women. The social engineering aspect of this game is amazing. We even found it incredibly easy to chat with them because the icebreaker is already there. You see them walk up with their phone out and immediately can ask what team they're on, etc. etc. You instantly have something in common.

We later went to lunch at a nearby BBQ joint that had a pokestop next door. Spoke to the owner who said he had been dropping lures on his place all day and had done at least twice the business of previous lunchtimes on Saturdays. This is a cultural phenomenon at this point.

        edit: grammar

Not to mention the 10+ miles we walked, dozens of local landmarks and historical sites we discovered, and the two new restaurants and an awesome local Australian bakery we found. Overall, a really great weekend with a good buddy that I haven't spent good quality time with in a long time. If you'd told me I'd get all that out of a stupid mobile game as recently as last week, I'd have laughed at you.

Same here. Also, "Pokemon leg" is now a thing. All these kids who haven't been physically active most of their lives are now complaining via social media about how sore their legs are. This is a net win for society, if a bit sad that kids are getting sore from just walking. Still, gotta start somewhere.

100% agree. There's already a sub called pokemongofitness, which is a testament to how positive this is for all of us as a whole. Personally, this is the first pokemon game I've played as it was never the kind of thing that interested me when I was younger, though I know it was really popular then. However, the sheer number of benefits are too good to be ignored. The only downside I've seen so far is an increase in traffic accidents. I can't definitively say that the large number of accidents I saw this weekend was related to POGO's release but... let's just call it a hunch.

The social aspect of gaming has always been the draw in the past 10 years. It's only now that people are starting to see it in tangible forms. I'm a bit disappointed because gaming gets shit on by so many shortsighted people on TRP. Understandably this has some obvious benefits (pokemon go) compared to plopping down all day in front of a screen, but when something like this comes along everyone is all on board acting like they haven't been calling it the devil all along.

But I get it, it either gives a benefit now or fuck it in terms of efficiency, but as someone who has been following gaming culturally for most of my life it's really cool to see this transition. Gaming is the future IMO, in ways people are beginning to see. Reality and fictional spaces are merging in some good and bad ways, and have been for years now. Fascinating stuff.

I felt like I was cheating taking my board around, but I've had so much practice on the thing that even when my legs are wiped out from a leg day I can just cruise around. This is such a big deal, it's crazy.

EDIT: I see what you mean. I disagree, I think sleeping with her once and seeing that she's hooked is enough to say she's a plate.

I'm quite familiar with single-day lays. I'm calling bullshit on the fact that /u/Synzael met two girls in two days playing POKEMON GO and hooked both of them hard enough to call them "plates".

Also, the word "plate" is just incredibly misused on this subreddit in general.

I agree man. Appreciate you making the distinction while I do think both girls qualify as plates unless they flake the next time we are supposed to fuck

Exactly. Let's not get to crazy/lazy here folks. A plate is a girl that you invest almost zero effort in but can lay regularly, not once.

I have younger family that turned me on to it and then some drinking buddies hit me up and we bar crawled while playing it the other night. It didn't take long before I realize the potential for this from a TRP perspective.

As a UX designer, I installed the game primary to check out the interface since millions of people are going to be using it and it could influence future trends. I found the actual gameplay incredibly shallow, and I was planning to uninstall until yesterday.

I took a walk along a paved trail near the river in my city, and literally everyone that had their phone out (at least 50 people over the course of an afternoon) was using the app. Later that evening I passed a spot where someone had dropped a lure and sure enough there was a group of 6-8 people that had gathered there, just like the OP describes.

Every time I would run into someone that was using the app, there was an immediate connection, like we were members of a secret club or some shit. Running into a cute chick using the app was like having an instant ice-breaker.

Also, I have not seen any stereotypical "gamers" using the app. It's only been fairly thin and attractive people. Possibly because it's very hot in my city but also due to the physical requirements the game has - if you don't physically walk, your character doesn't walk. I've seriously walked 20 extra miles over the past 4 days, purely from playing the game. I've also seen no one younger than 19 playing it.

I went walking on my lunch hour today, and it was the same deal. Every college age person was using the app. I got the number of a cute HB8 by asking her where a Kingler I was looking for was. I've gotten numerous FB adds from other dudes with shared interests that I met playing GO - running the gamut from fellow lifters to business investors.

Nintendo has really struck a cord here with 18-28 year-olds, people. I don't think it's going to last once it gets too cold to walk around outside, but in the meantime if you're looking to meet new people or talk to girls, there are a hell of a lot worse ways than this.

        [–]∞ Mod | RP Vanguardbsutansalt[S] 3

BINGO! It's an instant commonality and you already have something to talk about. "Catch anything good?" is all it takes.

It's a running joke in our community that Steve Jobs is the world's greatest cockblock for inventing the smartphone because of how disconnected it's made people in bars and clubs. This game single-handedly undoes that.

I took over the gym at the Space Needle for a good 20 minutes with a Pidgeot named "Trump 2016". Hope I triggered Seattle SJWs by doing so.

Anyway, its a fun game. Don't think that because its Pokemon, that its for kids, or for nerds, and by playing it, you will be seen as one.

Pokemon was really, really big when I was in 5th/6th grade. Everyone liked it and I mean everyone. The last bastion of our childhood, right before we became teenagers. Of course once we got into middle school and started turning 13 everyone started to hate Pokemon and trash it because it was "for kids". But myself, while I trashed Pokemon with my friends, I secretly continued to like it and play it. I still buy all the games to this day. I guarantee I wasn't the only closet Pokemon fan all through high school and college. That's why I think this game is catching on, its popularity is giving people an excuse to drop the charade for hating Pokemon because its for kids, and allowing people to reconnect with their childhood and nostalgia.

OP is right. I thought it would just be a bunch of nerdy rainbow dyed haired thick frame triggered glasses feminists playing it. While I have seen plenty of them playing it, I have seen a lot of non-geeky or non-SJW/feminist looking HBs playing it as well.

Do what you like. Who cares what others think.

        [–]RedditAdminsSuck_88 12ポイント13ポイント  (2子コメント)

It's an exception because EVERYONE liked Pokemon when it was big around 1998-2000. So a lot of people are returning for nostalgia purposes because its "cool" to be into Pokemon again.

Real world locations are used in the game as places to collect items or 'control' via battling the ones the catch and train. Thus, people have to physically go to these locations to do so.

A Lure Module is a more sophisticated version of incense that attracts Pokemon to a particular PokeStop for a period of 30 minutes. Not only is it more effective, but it also targets the PokeStop not just for the player, but all players interacting with the PokeStop during that period! It can be bought from the Shop in groups of either 1 or 8 in exchange for PokeCoins.

What the hell is "poke chat"?

        [–]∞ Mod | RP Vanguardbsutansalt[S] 2

I'm guessing he means a group chat via facebook messenger. It's what I was going to do so I can keep tabs with the people I've been meeting through the game.

Can confirm, I have met quite a few this way already. And I'm not even looking on purpose. Go Valor!

In the past two days, 5 numbers(this is being lazy with it as well, not even bothering to put effort in), and two new girls I'm fucking. I originally thought that the game was dumb as fuck, and people were childish for playing it. Still kind of do. But, as I saw all the pictures of people congregating due to this game, I realized just how crazy easy it becomes to be around women, without spending any money whatsoever, and having an easy in.

Pokemon Go is silly, but fantastic. I now have two new women to fuck, who are in the top ten hottest of the 60+ I've fucked already. I don't even care what people think, this shit makes it so easy to get laid with no resources besides time.

Didn't know that many hot girls play Pokemon Go.

        [–]∞ Mod | RP Vanguardbsutansalt[S] 9

Law of averages. This game has such widespread appeal EVERYONE is into it. Once the newness wears off or the weather gets cold it'll probably die down in popularity where only the True Nerds play it, in which case the quality of the woman will likely decrease, but for now let's ride that gravy train for all it's worth!

ITT: Idgaf vs no fun allowed

I've been seeing people talk about Pokemon Go EVERYWHERE on the internet, didn't expected to see it here.

With that said, I liked how most comments are joking and having a general IDGF attitude towards being labelled nerd or for kids.

This is becoming a worldwide phenomenon I wish I could be a part of but can't bring myself to go back to. Ever since I saw all the hours I logged into Steam Games, I added it all up and realized I'd been leveling up monsters and characters (pixels on a screen), while giving money to developers that are getting rich off of our time and in game purchases.

This is an awesome idea, but I'll stick treating my life like an RPG on hard mode ;)

        But I'll leave with this:

"Wild plate appeared!" "Chad used Pokemon Go!" "It's Super Effective!"

If you live in a densely populated area you don't have to spend money at all. There are plentiful PokeStops (where you get free supplies on a timed basis) so unless you get super into it you don't have to buy anything (yet, that will probably change in a few months.)

But yeah, it sort of a waste of time. If I wasn't meeting people with it I wouldn't even bother.

True, but I've spent too much time on video games in my teens/early twenties. All those logged hours into leveling up something or playing some game technically are zero sum and no matter how leveled up I get in it, I personally won't benefit from it long run and will have wasted all that time. Most mobile games have a fun factor for a couple of days to a couple of months even, but once it's over, it's over.

I wouldn't derive much utility from knowing that simple fact about video games. I also logged like 500 hours in Skyrim and those are hours I'll never get back.

For me personally, it's better to level up my career, body, health, etc. (because I also know that if I play a game, I'll undoubtedly get super into it).

I can definitely see using Pokemon Go as a way to plate nostalgic/ nerdy girls though. All my friends and their mothers are playing this so it's bound to reel in some success stories.

You could apply this logic to sex and only have sex when you're trying for a baby since all that other sex is just wasted time you could spend improving yourself, getting money, working out at the gym. Go celibate?

Same. Im legitimately curious and want to try the game out, but gaming just bores me and I dont have much interest. Might be fun to try out just to meet some new people though.

You magnificent bastard, that's very clever. May actually drop some money on lures now.

        [–]Auphor_Phaksache 2ポイント3ポイント  (0子コメント)

Yesterday I actually ran into a modded pokestop that was a frat house. I got out of my car and just kicked it with the guys on the porch for a bit and they introduced me to a lot of girls. It's a pretty legit way to strike up a convo b

Let me just say that two nights ago, we had so many "teenagers" (16-16) on the green in the center of town, that police had to come and ask them to leave. (which is pretty dumb, kids playing Pokemon had to leave)

But that proves how crazy this is. So many young women attracted to these areas, so many nerdy guys orbiting them

True story. Was at a concert the other night. Before the main band came on stage, everybody was playing it. My friend and I were playing it and we were able to strike up conversations with everyone around us just because of the game. It's a light topic, gets you in a playful competitive mood, and allows you to connect to people and have your own fun at the same time.

In toronto its even all over the news. People are doing meetings downtown and a ton of other places. Get on this hype train.

If you love games and want to meet women on easy mode, this is the game to do it.

I see this working for 2 groups:

        1. Established pua/rp's looking for a novel game scenario to get girls, as opposed to bar/street etc pickups.

        2. Nerd-inclined newbies to rp who may feel out of their element in clubs or bars. For them this could be a great catalyst to become better.

For inbetweeners like myself it's pretty meh in terms of usefulness or appeal. Still a fun read though.

Whoa. What is going on here.

It's a phenomenon that will last a couple weeks at least... and it's a way to meet those introvert girls who are normally at home.

No reason not to make use of it.

I'm around the same age as OP. I never played Pokemon anything because it was popular when I was too old. Nevertheless I am going to give this a try since I've been trying to date more younger women lately. I put the app on and set up my character in 15 minutes. I'll try playing it a little after work today.

This guide seems to explain it well if you have no idea WTF it's all about or how to play.

Too bad I live in a place where no one knows what Pokemon is.

surrounded by very weak, young, nerdy guys

You realize nerd culture is mainstream right? You said yourself everyone is playing it.

OMG There is no escape from Pokemon even here heh. I know tons of hot girls that play this and roam about town. It is actually quite genius for getting people mobile and socializing in person. Unless they listen to the petition us uncool Windows phone users are screwed. At least were not one of the hundreds of thousands of PGO players that mistakenly installed a root kit malware version instead of the real one and are getting data raped right now =)

You're not wrong. If you enjoy this game Pokémon Go is better than Tinder most of the time. You always get some kind of tail in the end.

I soft bricked my galaxy s4 trying to upgrade to 4.4 to run it...after paying $45 to get metro pcs just to run the game

        Fml.

Yep, the social aspects of this game are rather amazing. Every time I'm out and about, I see people stopping, gathering, and talking just because they are there.

It's a great opportunity to perform pick up or just to work on one's approach techniques.

Likewise, I can confirm that people of all ages and demographics are playing the game in Jacksonville, FL.

Us Euros are still anxiously waiting for release.

That's pretty funny, I was thinking since I installed this game it's distracted me from approaching women.

Maybe it's because it hasn't been released in my country yet, but I haven't run into anybody playing it. Obviously I know other people are because they are taking over the gyms.

I think video games are generally a turn-off. I don't think this is really an exception, it's not going to help your SMV, but I guess it may not hurt either depending on the girl.

Really though. Took off my shirt, jumped on my Longboard and just went coasting down the street stopping off at parks, food places, pokestops, every single one had groups of 5-6 girls all sitting around their phones giggling and playing pokemon. The ice breaker is the game, your game is everything else. It's never been this easy to get a group of 4-5 girls to just follow you around from place to place building rapport and gathering numbers. The best part is that I'm actually enjoying playing the game and it doesn't eat away at my life, it ads value. I never thought I'd see the day.

Why is this legendary pickup app published in the month I write the final university exams and don't have time to go out and waste my time?
God/coincidence hates me. But at least the app is not officially published in germany at the moment..maybe the hype waits for me.

Man. I keep forgetting how pathetic y'all TRPers are.

Is this sarcasm or for real?

I wondered to. This is getting ridicolous

I thought we were removing stupid shit like this?

It's about meeting hot girls IRL via an app that is surging in popularity.

It's like setting up an instant day game venue.

How about just fucking approach and talk to women? I guess I'd prefer to meet women my age not 17 year olds.

In September of 2012, somebody made a post here about this new thing called "Tinder". You're the guy who shit on him for promoting some new-fangled app for autists and social morons.

Tinder was developed for dating. Pokemon was made for 12 year olds so

Please tell me this entire thread is sarcasm? You're secretly fucking me guys?? Pokemon go? I'm 21 and reside Pokemon go= autism.com

Haha you nerds keep playing and I'll keep slaying.

Meanwhile I'm sitting here as the 10% of the population without a smart phone, having to borrow my Mom's, (I'm 17) who is extremely paranoid and won't let me leave our street. Couple that with living in a small ass town, I won't be able to use this. Which sucks because I legit love Pokemon.

Just go with proper daygame instead of this gimmicky shit. Not like nerdy beta males orbit any decent looking women most of the time, anyways.

I was going to comment the same thing when I first read this thread, but after thinking about it, this is daygame.

Not every guy wants to take an hour out of his day to walk around and approach women on the street at random.

Might as well integrate it into your normal activities.

Video games are for children . Just my opinion, being on trp long enough to realize it's still a waste of time . What are you gaining from getting virtual Pokemon...

And no I'm not some old fag, am 22. You could spend that same Time on something actually productive .

Theres something called free time that people can you to their own avail.
