Iv known 2 men who have ended up in loveless marriages and are on a path to self destruction due to them following societies expectations of what is expected of them (Nuclear family).

Case one is an old college friend who is not what you could call the classic handsome man, so had little expectations of bagging himself a hot wife, But was expected to marry and have kids, He got married to a girl who was what you could describe as fat and bitchy, but as he saw it it was the best he could get, Now he is a broken man who finds solace in alcohol and online porn, His wife fills her time with Bingo and the affection from her 5 Dogs, while he barely speaks to her let alone get close to her, he has told me that he gets scolded if he tries to get close to her and has not had sex in over 10 years now.

Case two is a man who married a girl as she was financially stable, she had a good well paying job and this was his only aspiration when it came to marriage, Again she is no looker but had a good wage coming in so they got married, soon after they married she quit her job to have kids, they had one child and she turned into a slob, spending her time watching reality television and soap operas all day, while the man works 40 hours a week, does all the house work and even takes care of their child, He has turned into a total wreck, gained a lot of weight and is a shell of the man he once was. Again like case one he has not had sex or affection from his wife in many years.

My point is, Is this what marriage does to a man, if so why do men bother marrying at all, Both men are just seen as home helps and a pay check, Im just glad that I can do my own thing with no commitment and have the freedom that comes with that.
