There has been talks that once he was done at the club level he could go home and coach Portugal some day.

Or possibily England. I remember talking about his later future in an interview with Clare Balding.

Didn't he say in that Balding interview that he doesn't want to manage internationally? As it takes him away from the training ground for too long?

This would be after his club career is over.

True. He still considers himself a young manager so I wonder how long he sees his club career going on for

He said after he is done with club level and he is at a certain age, he wants to move onto international duty to spend more time with his family. Plus, I'm sure the England or Portugal job definitely appeals to him.

Depends how old his kids are, if they are all in uni or out in the real world I don't think it matters of its England or Portugal.

I remember he said he was offered it but his wife suggested he would be bored with the lack of games or something like that. Might have been a BT sport interview

Yes, I saw him in an interview a while back and said he was on the verge of taking the England job iirc, but his wife convinced him that it was not for him. He said something about how he would not enjoy the wait between games. Either way, I'm pretty sure he has said something about the intention to manage Portugal one day

As others have said, he has done a few interviews on this topic. His basic sentiment is that he is too young to manage internationally. Jose loves the day to day grind that the club level gives him and moving internationally would involve a lot more downtime that he feels is not constructive to his career at this time. Was in discussions for the England job at one point but turned it down after talking with his wife. He'll probably manage Portugal at some point in his career, but that might be a decade down the road.

He nearly took the England job one time but his wife talked him out of it.
