If you are wondering why this sub changed its opinion overnight - apparently it has had a big influx from r/moviescirclejerk (self.ghostbusters)

Apparently, they love the new movie and are willing to defend it anywhere. Any attempts at discussion are useless - they aren't willing to listen and just keep crying about how much we hate the new movie and what horrible people we are. So guys, how about this - you go back to your place, and we stay at ours, OK?

Also, u/realgb, cut it out already, will ya? Discussion is hard enough without your constant attemps at trolling/creating a strawman, you 7-hour old with 100+ low-effort comments.

r/moviescirclejerk Tries to ironically parody the "idiots" of the internet (because they're much smarter than us, obviously), but the real irony is that their sub has become the exact thing they try to make fun of; an echo chamber of complete garbage and recycled shit-posting, yelling at everyone who doesn't share their opinion.

Pay them no mind, they'll find another sub to cry over in a couple of days. Though I can guarantee you everyone who mentions them in a negative light will be downvoted into oblivion, because Reddit's rules don't apply to those higher beings.

My point is that the entire sub has a superiority complex. All the posts in the sub are dedicated to mocking people they think are stupid. Chalking up a group of people being incredibly obnoxious as a different type of humor is just weak.

And please stop assuming I've only just learned about the sub and am ill-informed, I discovered it months ago and it's just as vile now as it was then.

No it isn't weak in my opinion. I don't agree with coming down here and fucking with people but as long as they find it funny to do and it is in their own subreddit, is there any harm?

They are making a parody of people/movies who are currently discussed in an overly edgy or making huge statements like "this is going to ruin childhoods" etc. I can't see any harm in that.

Like when Interstellar didn't use a lot of CG they were parodying people who were saying that all CG is bad and movies aren't what they used to be because of it etc.

I enjoy it and you don't. That's why I said the thing about having a different type of humor.

Are you sure you've spent enough time there? Every time one of them links a thread from this sub or any other all the users there break Reddit's rules by flooding it and down-voting everything. If they kept to their sub nobody here would care, but why do you think this thread exists in the first place?

So yes, there is harm. That sub's foundation is built upon mocking people, so if you want to call being an asshole to random people on the internet "for tha lolz" a type of humor, sure, you do you. But having weird 'crusades' against other subs is just sad; mock all you want but when it starts tipping into other subs then people will take issue.
