Thoughts on Ashley Youngs's future at Manchester United. (self.reddevils)

Hi all,

WHat do you guys think about the future of Ashley Young at Manchester United? LVG played him at both LB and RB because of injuries, but I really do not see Mourinho doing the same unless we're desperate because of injuries.

LW: Martial, Memphis

RW: Mkhitaryan, Mata, Lingard, Valencia, Januzaj?

Where is Ashley Young going to fit in all of this?

True, I'd much rather see Memphis as a striker than Ashley Young. And I feel bad for him because he was really on form in 2014-15 and he was chosen ahead Angel Di Maria.

I know Ashley loves the club very much, it'll be very sad to see him go in search of first team minutes :(

Unless he has a really good season I doubt it. Would be an amazing free signing for a mid table team next year.

Perfect squad player, can play lw, rw, lb, rb & striker and really seems to love being at United

Hes 31 and at best is going to be a squad player for us from now on.

I cant imagine hed be happy spending his last few seasons on the bench when he could move anywhere else in the country outside of the top 5 or 6 teams and be a starter every week.

He won't earn the same money anywhere else. He's on £120k I think. He'll want to stay as long as possible.

Age only really affects his pace and he's still got that, his experience is making him a better player but I don't think he should be offered anything but 1 year contracts from now on

Young has always been genuinely proud to play for United and does not kick up a fuss when he's benched. He makes more than he would elsewhere and always puts a good shift in when he plays.

He really is the perfect squad player and considering his recent injury record I doubt he could handle starting every game. It really is the perfect situation for him.

Not to sure he has a future here. Though he could easily displace Memphis as second choice for LW if his form does not improve. He's most certainly not going to be playing LWB.

I think Young is more likely the second choice, currently he is the better player of the 2

I'd like to see him move on to another club, preferably in the Premier League so we can watch him play.

He shouldn't waste away in the reserves.

Mata will not be played on the RW by Mourinho, also Young has been in fantastic form I very much doubt he'll be shipped out of Januzaj, Mata and maybe even Lingard. Only Lingard because he's not a winger and hes not good enough when he plays CAM. Its shit but he's not a specialist like Mourinho wants

I was talking in terms of quality, although I don't see much of a role for either of them under Mou.
