It's a common talking point in the MRA sphere, and as examples they cite that men are sent off to die in wars and most of the "cannon fodder" in media like films and video games is made of men. Like they just seem to think female lives are valued higher.
Obviously I don't think that's the case since in many parts of the world parents literally kill their newborn if they are girls. My theory is that women are only valuable as a highly prized property or as incubators to replenish casualties from a war or a disaster.
In games and action films I think it's just that women are seen as weaker and not equal opponents so it'd be like the heroes are fighting with unfair advantage (villains are never afraid to murder or fridge women on the other hand).
I guess I kind of answered my own question, haha. I'm still interested to hear your thoughts on this though. I feel like I'm simplifying it a lot.
