Poll on back to Tier 2, vs keeping at Tier 3 and removing stories.

If you have any other suggestions just let me know...

Sky Sources shouldn't have a tier.

Just State the reporter in this case Andy Burton http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/10497605/real-madrid-out-of-race-to-sign-paul-pogba-8211-sky-sources

Andy Burton is now our guy from Sky Sports due to his connection with Mourinho. Andy Burton has his sources which become "Sky Sports" Sources.

Gullieme Balague has sources he reports to sky. SS report them as "Sky Sports" sources.

Sky Sources aren't a single entity. Base it on the reporter/Journalist.

I like this Idea. Very good.

[–]TomKellJose Mourinho 8

Honestly I think Sky should just be moved to Tier 2.

I agree with you. I think their flaw is that they feel the need to have 'Breaking' news like 20 times an hour.

This results in them trying to push so many minor details about a transfer and transform them into different news stories.

As I said in another thread, they got Zlatan's move spot on. However, they also tried to add in the details of when it would be finalized, when his medical would be...etc. And fucked it up, tarnishing their reliability.

They seem to have got particularly bad this season for whatever reason, maybe they're being pushed a bit to have more "breaking" like you previously mentioned.

Both links you posted are by Andy Burton who seems to be quite close to the club.

True, however, if he references 'sources', he's been given the information from someone else.

If there's no mention of sources, surely that entails that Sky have been given the information directly.

[–]quimbies_in_camo_PJs 1ポイント2ポイント  (0子コメント)

Where'd sky get the info then? Sky sources. I think it's purely they when they use "sky sources" in their articles, they've usually been fed info for an agenda or their going for some clicks, versus whatever source they have providing them with actually newsworthy info

Like the other person said, Andy Burton has probably got a close if not direct line to Mourinho and/or Mendes or someone similar. There's no doubt about it, he's basically Mendes mouthpiece on ssn. So it should be taken a bit more serious imo, simply for the access he has.

This is by Burton, but info from 'sources'. Would you consider this Tier 2 reliable?

Anything from him is basically from the horses mouth. He basically says what Mendes/Mourinho are thinking/doing. From Ibra only joining if LVG left to when Jose would sign.

Oh man! Sorry for posting the Sky thread, still fairly new to this sub and rarely post. My bad!

No worries man, just trying to sort out whether or not it should be kept first.

Tier 2 or 3 and keep

[–]goodguy1994it's Rooneyyy, it's inevitable. some things are meant to be

They should be tier 2 imo. They just really messed up the van gaal/Jose thing. But they have been fairly reliable.

If they have any reports that are sourced from reliable outlets, we could assess them and label the posts accordingly. Till then I would very much prefer it to be classified as Tier 3. They have become far too click-baity of late and have more often than not acted like an aggregator.

I vote remain.

I always thought they were pretty reliable. Apart from the '48 hour' fiasco, their sources are pretty much spot on and they've gained alot of hate for whatever reason that escapes my grasp. The only thing I recall from them not being true was that Benatia flight to Manchester one or two summers ago. Apart from that, they always get things right. IMHO I would place them on Tier 2, and L'Equipe on Tier 3, I don't get why people say they're so reliable, they often talk shit and they've only broke one or two stories that were true, it's unreal that they're Tier 1 and Sky are Tier 3, the latter has gotten way more accurate reports.

Sky have went downhill a bit but are still good, I'd say keep them where they are. I still get excited when Sky report something more so than tier 2 or 3 journalists depsite the drop

Sky Sources are bullshit. They're usually just something they've seen on twitter reported by someone else.

Yup. They're spectacularly unreliable.

The other thing they do is interview someone like Ballague on TV and then report on their website under the guise of "Sky Sources".

I have noticed they do that.

Whatever they do it'll be posted here 5-6 times with varying degrees of editorialisation.

I would say T2 personally. They're wrong sometimes of course, so is everyone but I'd say they're right more than they're wrong.

My biggest problem with them lately is all their news and transfer rumours feel very click bait-y and it's very off putting. Or else their info is good but the reporting is something you'd see in a school newspaper. Eg. 48 hours or the 48 after that.

Return to Tier 2. Highlight that they have frequent ups and downs where ever you can.

I think anything by Andy Burton is something that should be considered in Tier 2.

I'd say so.

It's just that Sky are so ambiguous when they mention 'sources' we really don't know what that means. Even if they don't mention 'sources' I don't think it makes the report more/less credible.

Hard to say really. What I will say is that Andy Burton was present throughout the entire ordeal when Jose was about to be appointed. I assume that he maybe has some decent ties to Mourinho's camp in some way.

I think they are toxic, down there with The Mirror and The Daily Mail. Wild stabs in the dark, using sources such as "a ficticious scenario we talked about with a mate in the pub last night."

Tier 3 for me.

I don't think they're that bad. I'd put them at about 3/4 reliable. They're right more than they're wrong, IMO.

I still think Sky has somewhat reliability and that Balague is pulling them down. I don't think they should be on Tier 3 just yet.

Also, their reliability decreases when every tweet and article starts with BREAKING.

They are a 24 hour news channel so they have to fill it with nonsense. The breaking news is to keep those sitting on dole happy that something is going on in the real world. I think they get a bad rep.

If they say "Sky Sources" then it's rumours, if they don't then it's (in my mind) much more likely to happen. So i'd agree with the tier split.

[–]Yo_where_r_my_ticket -2ポイント-1ポイント  (3子コメント)

Why not use your own intelligence and question who has written the piece plus the perspective it is from and what it is trying to achieve and make up your own mind rather than relying on 'tiers'

Because dependant on what Tier you're linking it might get removed by the mods.

You don't need to have one over the other, in fact having tiers aids in what you suggest.

We get enough abuse from people claiming things are unfair, and we run the subreddit based on what we want, rather than what the sub wants. Keeping Tiers, which are easily changed by talking with everyone (as we're doing now), keeps people from claiming we are being unfair.

If we keep this Pogba story, but remove others from Sky, and people PM us complaining cause the Pogba one got left up, they do have a right to be annoyed. With a list of what stays up and what doesn't, nobody can get pissed off.

I agree, "Sky Sources" should be banned while not mentioning sources should be allowed

Definitely tier 2, they tend to be right more often than not
