I hope to make a little piece of software to help protect your open tabs from peeping eyes! It's your device, only you should know.
About this project
What is it?
I want to create a program help protect your tab privacy in public spaces or anywhere you feel is an appropriate use.
Description
If you have multiple tabs open, the title/header of the page is displayed along with an image. We wish to develop an easy and quick way to change them.
Examples/Thoughts behind the project
Privacy is a much demanded characteristic in the U.S.A. People do not opt to go with a service that does not offer such feature. Where you swipe your card, who you make calls to, where your car took you in the last 20 miles, are all things we do not divulge to the entire world.
In all of these instances which ever company we have chosen, makes sure to blind the public from your daily activities simply because it is no one’s business but YOURS!
This program would in the same way allow you to keep your tabs personal. Screen shots are one of the most common and many times, accidental, leakers of privacy. We share a screen shot without realizing what tabs we have open. There is always the option of being more careful and closing/erasing something we don’t want others to see.
However, if we actually did it every single time, there would not exist those accidental leaks of privacy. Many times we have to screen shot something at work and our “Pintrest” tab was left open. This social media tab may have even opened during your break time and simply forgot to close it, but too late now. Whoever received the image, now thinks you are not really working.
What if your boss comes by to show you the new system, walks towards you while you work on an important project but you left the US postal service tab open and now he doesn’t trust that the money he is investing in you, is being used correctly.
Another example is a major presentation that could close your companies deal, however you have been surfing the internet for explicit content and now have an embarrassing tab lingering over your professional presentation.
According to “LifeSiteNews”, 77% of Americans view adult content at least once a month. Such a tab left open while trying to close a deal, could immediately end your chances. Whatever the reason may be, privacy is vital to maintaining a job, maintaining professionalism, or simply have privacy.
Don't let that be you, take charge of your privacy!
Risks and challenges
The biggest challenge we'll face is on the legal side. We will be working with legal experts to ensure that everything we do is completely legal and is not hurting any person or entity. Also, with multiple browsers belonging to different companies, we must ensure we don't break any of their ToS (Terms of Service).
