To play where? Right wing?

He can fill in anywhere down the right flank if needed

Backup right wing probably.

I don't think Mourinho wants utility players to be starting like Blind, Young, Valencia, Mata(on the wing) when he could have a specialty player there. But I doubt he'll sell someone like Valencia who is good enough to be a backup RB and at a stretch RM just solely because he can play more than one position

He'd be great at RB where he has played for the past couple seasons.

Mkhitaryan and Lingard as playmaker wingers will probably be a little more narrow. So Valencia could provide width and overlapping runs

Blind is the one who should be worried. He isn't strong or fast to make up for his lack of position, also very short. Valencia mostly plays on the right side and is strong and fast where ever he plays

No, wtf why do people keep asking this. It's not like only speciality players are going to stay, that would leave you with a 4/23 man squad. He loved Ivanovic, was he a speciality player? No

Nobody knows.

He also mentioned every squad needs 2-3 multi-functional players.

I believe he said 1-2. Blind is clearly one of those. Young/TFM...

On what bases is Blind "clearly" one of them?

Nobody knows Jose's plans for any player yet.

He's a true utility player. He can play LB, CB defensive mid naturally.

Don't get moody with the whole 'nobody knows yet' thing. That's why I've posted this on Reddit to hear peoples opinions on it.

Even when SAF used to play Valencia at right-wing, I always saw Valencia as a right back. Modern wingers usually cut inside and try to shoot on goal like Di Maria, Robben, Bale, etc. Valencia likes to stick to the touchline and lob crosses into the box. He's much more a fullback than a winger in the modern era.

There is plenty of top tier wingers that don't cut inside. Usually teams have one inside forward and one natural winger. The inside forward is only popular because of the 4-3-3 which allows a winger to play inside and support the lone striker. For example SAF played 4-4-2 and therefore had Ronaldo predominantly on the right and Giggs on the left so that they can be wingers because the strikers didn't need extra support because they are 2.

I think it's bad omens for Blind and Fellaini.
