Don't know when I'll be completely off the grid, but it is a goal of mine for almost a decade. I plan on practicing my wilderness survival skills soon, staying out of the system for at least 1 week(returning when I run out of rations) to test the practical drawbacks and check my weaknesses. I've learned to build a basic shelter and start fire without matches/lighters. It shouldn't be too hard provided I stay within a reasonable distance of civilization in case of emergencies until I get a hang of this as well as camping near a clean river.
