Let's get something straight: the controversy in Trump's tweet is not that he posted a graphic of a star. Obviously the fucking Frozen coloring book is not anti-Semitic.
The controversy is that Trump used a star over a graphic of money to say that Hillary is corrupt and greedy. For those still stuck in their self-made safe space, these are traditionally Jewish stereotypes. The graphic compares Hillary to Jewish people with the Star of David and says both are greedy and corrupt.
It's the equivalent of putting "Obama is a murdering thug" in a graphic of fried chicken and watermelon: it implies that the reason you have this opinion about Obama is because he's black, which is racist.
Of course, not every star is meant to be anti-Semitic, so Trump easily could have apologized and claimed it wasn't. The graphic came from a white supremacist site, so this is doubtful. But if Trump had released a statement saying "I didn't mean to offend anyone and I'm sorry if I did," we wouldn't be having this conversation right now. The media would probably be giving wall-to-wall coverage to the FBI report, which would benefit Trump.
Instead, Trump is so egotistical that he simply cannot let this go, and news anchors are reporting his ridiculous, inane responses about sheriff stars, Microsoft Shapes, and coloring books. Sounds like the type of guy we can truly trust with the nuclear launch codes...
