This subreddit is based on the idea that certain subreddits that are known to house unusually prolific posters who also happen to advance a large number of dubious or to-be-substantiated truth claims should not have their statements and claims get wiped regularly from the record (or at least pushed out of plain view via the constantly updating reddit algorithm) should be held intellectually, socially and morally accountable for their online conduct when interacting with those of different backgrounds and identities, whether this be on the basis of class, race, sex, religion or cognitive capacity.
All posts will be limited to links to ewk posts or pictures of conversations which ewk is involved in which the reader think deserves to be on the record so it might be available for future readers so that they may come to the conclusion themselves as to whether ewk's actions are consistent with his words in the total sum. It is the hope of this forum that by having a compendium of "quotes and sayings" will help elucidate ewk's intellectual and moral positions in a way that is direct, transparent and able to be subject to the 'peer-review' process with the goal of reducing misrepresentations or distortions, be it accidental or deliberate.
All posters should bear in mind when posting here that this truly isn't about ewk the person, but ewk the personality that has come to occupy the /r/zen space. All posters should understand that there is nothing about the construction of this subreddit that should suggest that it is aims are unique to or otherwise meant to be about ewk. It is not. In fact, it is the creator's hope that this type of forum will be adopted as a template to be used to introduce a higher degree of accountability and responsibility in the activities of any prolific or charismatic poster whose posting-rate outpaces the ability of the average internet audience to fully contextualize what they are saying relative to their views as a whole. This could and should be about anyone -- like a public committee. This particular committee just happens to take /u/ewk as its focus but understands that there may or might be a need for other committees for other posters who interact with the public in similar ways (which includes the admin of this subreddit).
There will be a strict, no-nonsense requirement on submissions and comments. They are to specify the claim(s) or nonclaim(s) that ewk is making with a link or picture to it. An example of this would be something like: "Dogen has been shown to be a liar and fraud by the academic studies conducted by Carl Bliefeldt at Stanford University" or "Zen is and always has been a secular tradition". Note that both of these examples are ones in which a claim is advanced but no actual evidence to substantiate it is produced. In other words, it is a warrantless claim. The problem with warrantless claims, however, is that them not having a warrant (i.e. proof or evidence) is subordinate to the fact that they can be made to sound true/self-justifying through regular and forceful repetition, especially if they are couched in charismatic or colloquial rhetoric.
This is all beside the point. What is important is that all posts simply function as records of ewk's online claims. In line with this, any sort of brigading, back-talking or hate-mongering are strictly prohibited. I will ban anyone who makes this personal or axe-grindy in any way. Comments may pertain to past instances of a poster's interaction with ewk that is related to the OP topic but no character attacks, insults, or insinuations will be allowed. AN example of a good comment to a post would be: "yeah I asked him to provide me with a source for that claim too, he called me an illiterate in response." That's it. Keep it as factual and journalistic as humanly possible, while minimizing the impulse to editorialize and embellish. Hold yourself up to a higher standard. This is meant to be a place that encourages not just responsible, but fundamentally decent human behavior in the digital sphere. One that recognizes the innate potential for people to grow when they have others get together and help lay out all their patterns in front of them. This is not a place to circlejerk or shame a single poster for his or her "bad" habits. If you do anything other than log and record your interactions, you are liable to be banned without warning. This is the necessary condition for participating in this community.
