Silly season has returned for the 4th summer on /r/reddevils!

Most of you know the drill.

For those who don't...From today until the window closes, a transfer round-up & discussion thread will be made every day. In these threads, ANYTHING can be talked about. Any player, in or out, any transfer fee, anything!

Now, with these threads starting, this means that rumours submitted as separate posts will be removed unless they are from reliable sources!

So there will be two situation regarding the Matuidi transfer.

If we didn't get him and Bayern snap him instead, this sub will go "Woodward you incompetent!". "We need him as our midfield is old bla bla bla."

If we do sign him, this sub will go "We don't need him, we already got bla bla bla."

Matuidi might make more sense than Pogba if Jose's keeping Fosu-Mensah in mind

Hmm. I see Fosu-Mensah as more of a Matuidi-type player than a Pogba-type player.

Right, Matuidi's 29 though, and Fosu-Mensah is 18. If we bring in Matuidi, he'll be in the first team for a couple years or so until Fosu-Mensah's truely ready to make the step up full time

I don't really think Pogba would block Fosu-Mensah's development. They're different types of midfielders that would occupy different positions.

Why would we keep him in mind? United needs to buy the right players for the manager and the squad, we shouldn't be deciding who to bring in based on an entirely unproven youth player.

Idk man, not really impressed with Matuidi during euros. A lot of running but not really the controlling type CM that we want. I think the 4th player Jose wanted is his roaming playmaker, his number 8 or his Cecs/Modric type of playmaker from deep

Agree with this comment, although I don't think Pogba getting signed automatically rules out TFM getting games or eventually becoming Pogba's midfield partner if we did actually manage to get him. I still think Matuidi is a good signing, should be solid for a few years at least then we can see where TFM is at, he might even develop into a defensive player, he did well enough at both CB and fullback last season in my opinion to be used there again this season.

I feel like Pogba's not going to happen and even if it does, I don't want him if it's true what pogba thinks of us

He said that Real is his first choice and We are his second. Then it's snake all over again. I want players who wish to player for the team with passion and love, not as a stepping stone for another club.

I don't think Matuidi's worth 25, probs 18 max. He runs alot and that's pretty much it.

that being said...

Schneiderlin used to be a box to box in So'ton and now he's used as a CDM. Do you guys want him to change or should we get another Proper CDM?

Dortmund have confirmed it, Man Utd Direct have confirmed it, Woodward has (telling a fan apparently) confirmed it, Mourinho pretty much confirmed it, Transfer Round up on here has accepted it,

and still we wait for Mkhitarian confirmation
