He also said that every team needs players to fill roles during times of injury. Blind can play 3 positions halfway decently. He's likely not going to be a starter but I think his versatility will be enough to keep in the squad for at least this year.

He could be kept around for this season but if the starters don't get injured like they have previously, he won't be getting minutes at all. Mourinho likes to keep his squad small and he talked about how his squad's injury record is low too. I could see him leave after this season, won't be too bothered by it.

He can be used as backup though when theres injury as he also a versatile player. But i doubt he will like it.

This is a confusing post. First, you say the following:

He's made it clear he doesn't want a jack of all trades and he wants specialists in all positions. I can't help but think that this was partly aimed at players like Blind, Young, Valencia, etc.

And you say this, even though what Mourinho actually said was:

"I like specialists more than multi-functioned players. I like one or two of those, as you need one or two guys who can fill the problems in a season, but I like specialists more."

You then conclude that Blind is

not going to survive

Even though, in your own opinion,

he's been United s 4th best player behind Martial De Gea, Smalling imo.

Are you trying to rationalize Blind's not being a starter next season? Or not being at the club? It's a bit fuzzy what your conclusion is, mate.
