I'm no wehraboo, but one must be seriously misinformed to believe that the Wehrmracht was bad at warfare. First of all they spent three years successfully fending off three world powers by themselves, losing ground yes, but still managing to put up an enormous fight. Hell they pushed the Soviet Union all the way to Stalingrad, there was a period in which they were making daily airstikes on the London area. There are two primary reasons for German defeat, neither of which are a lack of military prowess, rather they are the combination of not properly managing their resources and a lack of coordination with their allies.

For a better perspective of this let's look at what the Germans had compared to their opponents:

  • The Matilda fought Tigers

  • The P38, P51, and B17s had to deal with Me 262s

  • The Germans invented the modern assault rifle with the Sturmgewher 44, a design from which almost every assault rifle since has followed to some extent

  • The only non German jet that even saw service in the war was the meteor, and it was primarily used to intercept V1 bombs, with the Japanese having trouble getting their prototypes off the ground, the P80 being implemented a few weeks after the war ended, and the Russian jet program not really taking off until 1948

The German military definitely had several problems, but they were definitely not bad at warfare, in fact they invented blitzkrieg, you know, the style of warfare the US uses.

To be fair, the only reason the germans put out jets the way they did was because they were getting the shit kicked out of them with the allied bombing campaigns. They needed super weapons to turn the tide of the war. Because of this, despite the designs being good, the jets used were total dogshit.
