Most of these are just agree with me threads. You want unpopular opinions? Sort by controversial in any thread (including the Unpopular opinion threads, ironically).

I disagree.

They are one of the few community engaging threads we have, along with free talk friday and the transfer roundups.

They're always popular and filled with comments. Gives people an outlet to vent instead of creating new threads for every tiny controversial opinion.

They function well for keeping the sub clean while at the same time creating discussion.

They also only pop up once or a twice a month. If you don't like them just ignore them.

To be fair if its unpopular it gets downvoted and no one ever sees it either. The fact that someone needs to have a mini-rant over one post a month is baffling to me, and slightly pathetic

They do exactly the opposite of what they're supposed to do. The unpopular opinions are at the bottom of the karma food chain and the popular ones are at the top. Just post something like "I think Jones has to go." and you'll get tons of free karma (if you post it early, of course.)

I agree that they serve against their purpose, but I don't see a problem in that.

They serve a different function, which is engaging users and preventing fluff. I appreciate that even if I don't usually post in them.

We need more community threads like them.

They're just threads dedicated to bashing our own players.

We already have post match threads for that and the dozens of shitposts that come after we lose
