Interviewer: Zlatan, first of all, welcome to Manchester United. How does it feel to have your future sorted out and to be a Manchester United player?
Zlatan: I am super excited, super super happy, finally it’s done. There has been a lot of talks but it came to the moment where everything is done and now we start, now the hard work starts. So, I am super happy, I am just waiting to get to know the guys, to train the first training, and I’m here in the training facility and it looks, it looks that it is a big club, huge club so I am excited.
Interviewer: There has been a lot of speculation over the last few weeks. I know you have been having some fun with the journalists over the last month or so. Are you happy now that it is all sorted out?
Zlatan: I am happy. Now, I can like focus on one thing and that’s the United shirt and leave everything behind me because I have played the European (Euro 2016) where there was more talks about my future than the European. And finally now everything is over and now focus on my new club and go back to hard work and do good as possible.
Interviewer: How important was Jose Mourinho in making your decision?
Zlatan: I think my decision was pretty easy. It was more to make it possible everything, because I compare it with Mayweather and Pacquiao fight – it could never happen but it happened. I want to say thanks to my team, United, and Jose Mourinho obviously, because they made it possible and now I am in United. So, I am super happy. My decision was the easiest part; the rest was a puzzle but a puzzle that came together and we are happy, all of us.
Interviewer: Do you have good memories of working with him from your time at inter?
Zlatan: I have great memories. The only regret I had with Jose was that I had short time with him. I had one season – we won together, we enjoyed together and we had a great time together. I learnt a lot and I get to know him as a person, not only as a coach and … only positive things – he is a winner, I am a winner and we know both what we want – we wanna win. Wherever we go, we win and we will win.
Interviewer: Was a spell in the Premier League the only sort of missing piece in your glittering career?
Zlatan: I think it’s a big challenge for me where ever I came. I want and I am looking forward to do this new adventure, new chapter in my career and in my life. And if I could win here, I don’t know how many players has had the possibility to play in different kind of competition like I have and at the same time be winning and so I will work hard. I know my mentality, I know what I want and I come to win. I want to win but behind everything its hard work, and that is what I have been doing so far now, and that is what we have come to do here also.
Interviewer: It is an exciting time for the Premier league also with players and managers coming in, what are you most looking forward to about playing in this competition?
Zlatan: I think the whole Premier League. To be representing Manchester United is the big thing – I think every game will be ‘wow’ for the world and specially everything that is going on with, like you said, with the new coaches and the new players and me coming. It will be a funny year in a good competition, a hard competition but I am not worried.
Interviewer: You have won league titles everywhere for different countries. I think in 10 of the last 11 years, you won a title. Can you do that here?
Zlatan: I come to win. I don’t come to waste time. I don’t come to look at the weather. I come here to win – that is my objective and I don’t give up until I win and that’s the objective is to win. We played the UEFA, the European – everything we play for we go to win, and with the coach, with the players, everybody working collective, playing collective you reach your goals. So we will do all of the things we need to do to reach our main goal.
Interviewer: There are young promising strikers coming through here as well. Marcus Rashford is 18 and Anthony Martial is only 20. Somebody like you with your great experience, your great career, can you help those players develop as well in your time here?
Zlatan: I think so. I have experience from different culture where I was in a different team with different teammates. I had a world class team so I learnt a lot from all of them. I mean, first of all, it is up to every player. If you are professional, if you are working hard enough, you will succeed. You will become mature, and I will do my best to help everybody – not only the two names you gave – and even the club to bring them up to where they belong. And that’s on the top of the table. So, I do my best.
Interviewer: And are you looking forward to playing at Old Trafford? I know you have played there; it’s been a while since you were here with inter. Running out in a Manchester United shirt, are you looking forward to that?
Zlatan: Yeah! Yeah, I am looking forward to the first game. I will enjoy every second and every minute of it and the stadium is amazing; the supporters even more amazing, so then that would be a big day for me. So this is something I am absolutely looking forward to.
Interviewer: And what happens now? Because you have had a long season with PSG, you have just come from the European championships in France. When did your pre-season start? Will you like to have a bit of time off now?
Zlatan: Now, I breathe out because everything is done. I have told the talks, I have told the speculations, and its official – now I am a United player and I am the happiest in the world. But now, I need a little bit rest too after the long season and after the European. So I take my rest. How long that will be I will discuss with the boss and that’s it.
Interviewer: When you left Paris, you said that you came as a king and left as a legend. When you leave here eventually, how would you like to be described?
Zlatan: Hopefully, I have the same scenario! But this is a new chapter. I don’t like to compare past with the present, so this is different. This will make a difference. And you will see at the end what will happen.
