Nationalism means putting your country first! Who could argue with that, right?
Well, it's becoming increasingly clear that Trump's continual blaming of outside forces for America's woes is amplifying the voices of some people who view non-American citizens as subhuman.

A hispanic woman strikes and kills a pedestrian in a gruesome drunk driving incident. /r/the_doodoo picks up the story after the perpetrator is reported to have an "immigration hold" by Breitbart.
Plenty of other nasty comments and calls for lynchings and the like but I thought those in particular highlight a symptom of this resurgent nationalism: American lives are more valuable than others. Obviously this isn't new. We, as a nation, value the lives of our citizens. That's fine. What is new is this loud voice telling the country that there is a group of people infiltrating society and subverting our peace and prosperity. Under normal conditions, would a story about an immigrant killing someone while drunk driving garner any attention outside of the fringes? No. Now it's being used to support a narrative that a wall is the only thing that can separate us from them.
