I had to laugh yesterday when I saw #HeterosexualPrideDay trending on Twitter. I rolled my eyes. I say this: 1) do away with the whole "pride" thing all together and just be who the fuck you wanna be, cause we're ALL people. OR 2) quit biting off of a group of people's struggles, and LET them have pride in who they are and how far they've come. PERIOD.

Gay Pride parades honor the Stonewall riots, when LGBT grew sick of hiding their orientation for fear of getting arrested and rebelled against police brutality. So, no. I won't do away with "the whole pride thing".

Im sorry but having a straight pride wont effect gay pride at all. That makes no sense.

I don't understand why I'm getting downvoted for saying that it's ironic that heterosexualprideday was trending. My POINT was that heterosexualprideday SHOULDN'T have been a thing, because heterosexual pride is EVERYDAY, is it not? It shouldn't have been a "trending" topic at all, especially in light of recent events. My point was, either we start treating EVERYONE as equals regardless of race, creed, and sexual orientation, OR we stop having ridiculous "trends" like that one on social media, and stop marginalizing other people's struggles to get where they are today. The tweets I saw using the hashtag were disgusting, that was my point. Smh...

"heterosexualprideday SHOULDN'T have been a thing, because heterosexual pride is EVERYDAY" No its not, im tired or people saying shit like this, its simply not how it works. And i get your point, alot of homophobes did hijack the trend and that was disgusting, but dont hate on people who may want straight pride, hate on the homophobes.

I have news for you: A LOT of people tweeting that hashtag were also calling for a "White History Month", or saying that "Only a man and a woman can create this (a baby) joy." It's comments like THOSE that incensed me about the whole hashtag in the first place.

Oh, "I have pride in myself because I'm a straight guy, and don't take a dick up my ass!" How does that make sense, and how does that equate to the struggles of gay people, or black people to simply be accepted as equal human beings, to those who say that there should be White History Month? Come on, now.

Strawman argument with the straight guy, there nothing wrong with straight people having pride. There is a problem with homophobes, dont mix the two

But the concept of "Straight Pride" is LITERALLY just them being reactionary and trying to make a mockery of Gay Pride.....just like the idea of White History Month. I think you're being WAY too generous when analyzing the motives of people who want Straight Pride. It comes from a homophobic place of "don't flaunt your sexuality in my face, you have nothing to be proud of"

[–]SidniGarlandIm a whore basically 0

Alot is to mock i agree, but thats not all, and the concept of a real straight pride parade is in no way homophobic

Ok then, what would it entail? Just a bunch of straight people saying "Yay, I've never been oppressed for my sexuality! Yay, my sexuality is constantly reinforced and completely normalized and accepted in mainstream culture! Yay, we can make babies! Yay, let's be proud of doing literally nothing! Yay, let's celebrate the fact that we completely and totally reinforce the status quo!"

Gay pride =/= simply being proud of being gay. That's stupid. Gay pride = being proud of the fact that we've fought to be accepted for the past 50 years. So in that context, what the fuck could straight pride actually represent? Quickly.

[–]SidniGarlandIm a whore basically 0

Gay pride wouldn't be the same as Straight pride. They would not have any connection. "lets be proud of doing literally nothing" you realize you wouldnt have a lot of things if it wasn't for straight people, and im not talking about rights etc im talking about physical items, like iphones etc.... And I dont understand your point, your just blurting out random things, and alot of straight people dont re inforce the status quo and if you mean they inforce it by just existing, then your blaming them for something they cannot control. P.s You are not Bianca, dont say "quickly" like it means anything.

[–]LilSweetLinBianca Del Rio 0

100% this.

[–]LilSweetLinBianca Del Rio 3

We'll agree to disagree then. Yes, there's nothing wrong with straight people having pride, but it SHOULDN'T be a "trending" topic on social media, especially NOW.

I agree with what you're saying henny. Straight Pride is a ludicrous, reactionary, immature concept that only exists to be contrary and make a mockery of Gay Pride. "Oh I'm so proud to be just like 90% of the population, being straight makes me so proud!" Bitch, no.
