One of the best weeks of my life, got accepted into a University after studying 500+ hours for the entry exam!

Feels so fucking amazing and I can finally quit my terrible job.

Congrats man! Glad to hear all the hard work paid off for you.

As cliché as it may sound, keep doing you and make us proud!

Me and my mates are planning our first trip to Old Trafford. Always wanted to go and as a swede this feel like the perfect season for it.

Do it! I'm planning on doing the same thing this year. Where are you "getting" the tickets from?

It's true, man! That's so good!

It's been kind of a rough week for me, mom's been really sick for a while and it's been back and forth from hospitals for a while, but at least I have transfers to keep me in good spirits haha.

[–]TrollNaSeanWhite Pelé 2

I understand where you're coming from, yet I'm glad to hear that there's at least one thing keeping your spirits up in your hard times.

If you're feeling down and out of it, don't be afraid to shoot me a Pm, whether it be to vent or just talk to about transfers and the upcoming season.

Just started my new job working for the NHS. The pay isn't anything significant but it's nice to be earning again. Only went to Old Trafford once last season (Sheffield United, what a bore) and am looking forward to going to the big European nights this year now I can afford to spend more freely. I passed up on going to see our home leg against Midjetland (or whatever they're called) last season, never regretted something so much... Certainly won't be doing that again, and how could I pass up on seeing Zlatan in a United shirt in person? I don't even particularly like the man.

Congratulations! Hope you get to see many a game at OT. For us non-English what is NHS?

Don't remember having such an up and down week in my life.

Friday my country decided it's better off out of the EU. Saturday I moved in to my new apartment. Monday morning I watched the most EPIC game of thrones finale. Monday evening England are dumped out of the Euros. Wednesday I lost my wallet with 45 euros in it. Thursday is ZLATAN day and Thursday evening I manage to get an almost new LG G5 for 350 euros.

Oh and AMG also released the new GTR. Some of the images I worked on for it are all over the AMG website.

I'm thinking of talking up meditation or something, I need to stop overthinking very little detail of my life. Anyone got any advice?

Honestly man, start a new hobby! I got laid off from work and the job market in my city has been terrible. Now that I got all this free time, I've decided to start learning things that I've always wanted to learn but never had the time. So far, its been great man. Takes my mind off of things and I live a bit more in the moment. Hope this helps and let me know it you want some suggestions!

[–]ClownfeetMartial Arts 0

sepehrack makes a great point below. And one i can suggest is modern board games. before you laugh or anything. honestly they have come a long way since monopoly or risk and they still have a huge stigma attached to them of the geek/nerd world. but if you dip your toe into the water and pull out a few of the modern day greats then you'll find this whole world opening up.

The benefits i found are that it totally focuses my mind. i get home after work and my mind is all over the shop, thinking through everything and i often find myself lying awake in bed thinking every single detail through. Now however, i play through a game solo or with my wife, it winds us down after a hard day, frees the mind up with thinking through some more fun "problems" and trying to solve the game. After that i don't even remember my day, it's just relaxation.

I've joined several clubs after work now, all like minded people, all "normal" run of the mill people that you just never would have thought would be into a hobby like this. But we all just want to wind down after a hard day at work and get our minds off things.

Do it. Meditation is by far the best thing you can do to improve your mental health. Download headspace or read this:http://highexistence.com/the-ultimate-beginners-guide-to-meditation/

Finished my bachelor this week and got a full time job this morning. Pretty decent. The next year i have to prepare myself physically in order to get accepted into the police academy! Also thinking about giving my girlfriend an engagement ring at our upcoming 5 year anniversary. Good times!

[–]ClownfeetMartial Arts 0

congrats man! proposing to my gf was the best thing i ever did. 2 years happily married now. although planning a wedding couldn't be more stressful! fun...but stressful! ha

Well I don't plan on getting married just yet! I only want to show her that I want to take our relationship a step further. I just feel like it is time. But congrats to you and the lucky one :D

Nba free agency started, and Mozgov got a 4 year 65 million dollar contract. He barely played all year and he's in his thirties smh, good thing I'm not a lakers fan.

I'm still finding it difficult to fathom how Mozgov got that contract. The black hole that is the lakers continues to grow, and I love it

Lmao their front office is terrible but one things for sure with the cap rising , Mozgov won't be the only one getting overpaid. Chandler Parsons is getting the max and for the life of me I don't understand why lol.

[–]TheGhostOfBabyOscarClub & Country 0

Note: sorry for the long-ish reply, am a bit passionate about that story...

Game Of Thrones season 5 & 6 SPOILERS down below

LAST WARNING

(Sure?)

First I need to say that I've read the books so I guess that makes me "that kind of guy" who complains a lot about the show.

I hated the idea of Sansa being sent to marry Ramsay (never happens in the books) and thought it didn't make any sense that a very well-informed man like Littlefinger wouldn't know about Ramsay's... difficult personality, shall we say. Seeing her being raped was fucking painful to watch. I grew a bit tired of Iwan Rheon's machiavelic acting as well. Also the Winterfell storyline had none of the "Northern Conspiracy" vibe there is in the novels and it was a huge disappointment. To me the show felt like it went from a story where the hero doesn't necessarily always win to a story where the villain always gets his way, which is definitly not the same thing and lacks subtlety.

Jaime to Dorne was a total disaster (also doesn't happen in the books) and it produced some of the worst scenes and dialogues in the whole series. The Sand Snakes were absolutly awful and I guess the writers somehow admitted their mistakes by having them only in two episodes this year (still their first appearance was a fucking disgrace).

In general, the way they handled Jaime's arc is immensely disappointing to me. He's one of my favourite characters in the books and the way he's handled in the show is kind of insulting in a way (as was Stannis) but I guess now he's finally done being Cersei's puppy. Hopefully.

In the whole, I felt like the writing was a bit off-the-rail, a lot of stuff felt like it was only done for shock value but, somehow, still, nothing much happened.

One fantastic episode (8) couldn't make for a whole season of clusterfuck.

dat satisfying ending :')

Off to Turkey next week. Hope I don't get blown up.

Try the calamari there lol

I was in Turkey last week , stay away from the city centres and hope for the best. Oh and if you don't know much of the language you're going to be ripped off a lot. Thankfully the people I was with knew Turkish.

I've been trying so hard to suppress my thoughts of us somehow getting Pogba but.... it's been hard guys

Need support x

[–]TheGhostOfBabyOscarClub & Country 2

Two whole month of rain. I'm so fucking tired of it. I've been waiting for a nice sunny weekend so that I could go on a hiking trip with my dog, walk a whole day until I can't feel my legs, eat a can of peaches with her by some stream, put up the tent somewhere in the woods and spend the night there and walk some more the next day. I really need to get out in the open and have a bowl or two of fresh air so that I can sort out the poisonous shit in my head.

Happy beginning of transfer window guys!! :D

Part of me really wants to get Pogba just to piss off the Juve fans. Some of them take it real personal when we're in for one of their players.

most want pogba.

few realize we're not getting him.

There is a active agreement/wager amongst some of the Reddevils here, that if we do get Pogba, we are going to donate money to a charity of this boards choice (I'm included in this pool)

If you feel that it's a safe bet that we're not getting Pogba, why not wager on it? I believe the going amount to donate in the event that we do is 50 pounds (my phone doesn't have the pound sign).

good to hear that something like this is being done on the sub for charity

however i've never been a gambler, so i'd rather not but thanks for the offer

I wouldn't really call it gambling. But I understand, just thought I'd mention it

Today is my birthday and I'll have no shame in admitting seeing Zlatan and Mkhitaryan holding up United shirts will beat any other gift I receive today.

I'm going to join Barclays next month. They used to circulate Premier League trophy between their different offices. Every employee could hold and take a pic with it.

And now they will not be sponsoring pl from next season. I missed the title by a year. Gutted.

Anybody got any advice for a very shy guy wanting to speak up more? Whenever I'm in a room filled with people I clam up and find it very hard to speak and basically forget what I am trying to say.. It feels the exact same as oral exam anxiety. Is there any tricks to help me overcome this?

One way of starting a conversation could be making a query depending on the situation. Its answer should not be so obvious that you look stupid though. If the other person replies nicely you can thank him and build on that to further the conversation.

Hmm.. Sounds reasonable. I'll definitely try that. Have you dealt with the same problem?

No I don't think I have trouble talking to people. But I can't bear situation where silence for long can become awkward. So I use this trick.

Improv or acting classes would help a bunch. Taking up a hobby and joining people who have a shared interest will help you feel more comfortable to speak up. Exercise will also make you feel a lot more confident. Learn to make small talk with strangers; ask for the time at the bus stop, ask the cashier if she's having a good day. Small steps like this help. I suffer from social anxiety and honestly it's fucking terrible and I feel the exact same way, but those things have definitely helped me.

I've read up on a lot of advice on how to be better in social environments, but it's all pointless because like you I freeze up in the moment. That's why trying to improve yourself and going outside your comfort zone are the main things that will help. Good luck!

[–]ClownfeetMartial Arts 0

ask questions. Ask people what they are into, what they have been upto. That will kick start the conversation and once you're going then you'll find it easier to keep the momentum. If you find it start to dip again then ask another question. Over time you'll learn that people basically love talking about themselves anyway, lol. But it will deffo help you to get going.

I've worked in a coffee shop for over 2 months and only last night had my first coffee. I've had coffee before but hated it. I had a cappuccino left over and decided to put a bit of sugar in it and it was amazing. It also seemed to helped my social anxiety, going from quiet to talking like an idiot all night.

Moving into a house with 7 of my uni mates today, can't wait to get the keys!
