Pulling off a scamstarter is much more a question of luck and timing than of knowledge. For every scampaign we facepalm about here, who knows how many of them have tried the same and failed. It's all about reaching critical mass, and that's not as easy as putting together a convincing video with the right amount of hipster bullshit.

Regardless, when my final moments arrive and I'm thinking about my life up to that point, I'd rather not have "scammed a whole lot of people out of millions of dollars" as a significant entry in the list of deeds accomplished, even if those people were total idiots.
