Let's take suicide bombers as an example. There's something about them that most people overlook: they're suicidal.

No one who loves life, who loves their fellow human, is going to blow themselves up. No amount of holy text is going to convince someone who genuinely loves living to kill themselves. Their life already has to be shit in order for them to consider it.

What causes life to suck? Low living standards mixed with population density and corrupt government officials. That's what causes people to turn to extreme versions of religion. Remember, it's poverty and lack of education that has a very strong correlation with reactionary politics. Islam, Christianity, and Judaism will manifest as liberal or conservative as the econonomic/political environment it's within. That's why we place more emphasis on addressing the underlying causes of extremism, rather than the excuse for it.

Also, I'm confident that all dogmatic religion will eventually become obsolete as living standards increase.

I am very active in my religious community, however there is almost a daily fight with crazy racists who call themselves part of my religion.
