I know YouTube comps are misleading, thought Anderson was the next Ronaldinho because of YouTube, but this one genuinely shows how good he was; good at getting past people, end product needed work.

Under LVG in 14/15, he was very inconsistent. Would look good in 1-2 games and shit 3 others. Plus I don't remember him being given a proper run.

At the start of 15/16, he was played at No.10. He was ok and looked like he was improving. But then LVG decided to loan him out. And it was extremely stupid from Adnan to go to Dortmund. After coming back he was sent to play in U21s. I do try to watch as many U21 games as I can(quite hard considering I live in Australia, where games start around like 3:30 am). But in the 9-10 games I saw, him, Pereira and TFM all looked too good for the U21s(plus Tuanzebe>Ro-Shaun, doubt Weir will make it at United, Donald Love is shit). Only bad game he had was Chelsea away after United won the U21 title.

Considering how bad our RW had been this season, it was frustrating not to see him play there. I do like Lingard and Mata but the way LVG banged on about speed and creativity, Januzaj did seem a suitable option.

About his attitude I’ve seen a lot of United fans say he has a bad attitude and all that. I don’t know where this comes from. Can someone link me articles, tweets about this reported bad behaviour of his. I have seen reports and tweets that he nutmegged people at BVB and Belgium and that him and Pereira were fucking around at U21, trying to score from corners, this was probably because it was too easy for them. On the flip side I remember the Nandos incident and that him and Luke Shaw took a United physio to Dubai after the 14/15 season finished, and that video of him training for the upcoming season.

Hopefully Mourinho plays him, Mourinho on Januzaj in 2013-14: He is a fantastic player. He is not 18 - he is 25. He is so mature and comfortable. A very good and important player. If not hope he leaves and becomes successful elsewhere, he certainly has the talent.

I really like him and hope that he stays and grows with us. Before all the Rashford hype-train, before Martial, before TFM, before Lingard, Adnan was the first youngster since Rooney/Ronaldo to take my breath away and be genuinely excited about our prospects. I hope Mourinho at least gives him a few chances.

Absolutely. Most youngsters have a transition period from beeing a teenager into their twenties as well. I think mixed with the lack of confidence in him, his poor loan move and LVG, he hasn't been given much of a chance lately. If Mourinho plays him I'd love nothing more than to see that explosive and dedicated work Januzaj can provide. He's far from out of the team just yet, in my opinion.

I think the problem is that everyone compares youngsters to how Ronaldo was already good in his teens. The man is an all time great. The way he developed is extremely rare and it's a curse of false expectations on everyone that comes out of the Academy. If he's still not ready by 24 then yeah he's a flop. Otherwise we need to put faith in the hope that he does pan out. Everyone has bad days. When people shit on you for it, things just get worse. Encouragement is what he needs.

I agree but even 24 is still an arbitrary cut-off point. Some folks are ready at 18-19 (like Giggs, Messi or Hazard) while others are ready by 26-27 (like Payet, Carrick - you might say Carrick was ready before but I feel he couldn't have realized his potential at Spurs). I agree with you in that everyone needs encouragement, time and most importantly, someone who can identify and hone your natural skills. You can't have Adnan playing on the wings for sometime, then no.10 and then a striker and when you underperform on all, you're deemed a failure.

Agree w/ the Ronaldo point - a talent is either a Ronaldo or a complete and utter failure. You also have to remember that Ronaldo didn't become great as soon as he came in. He had a lot of flash and flair and it only caught everyone's eye because there wasn't anyone in the EPL with that kind of exhuberance.

Honestly it wouldnt surprise me if Mou was to train Adnan into a very promising right winger, he certainly has more raw talent compared to Lingard, with a solid amount of game time and training I really do hope we can get the best out of him, would be a shame to lose him. I also think it would be great to bring in a more established RW, and have Adnan as rotation, im excited to see what happens anyways, should be a cracker of a season!

I actually think he would make an ideal CAM for Mourinho.

He's already improving his strength in the gym and if he improves his defensive work rate then I think he could meet all the criteria that Jose looks for in that position.

I read in the past that his coaches believed his best position was CAM anyways, probably because his creativity benefits from the freedom to attack from a variety of different angles.

To consistently beat players on the wing you need really strong acceleration. This is what makes Martial so deadly and what Januzaj is lacking. He's not the slowest player but it seems to take him a while to build up pace.

LVG played him at CAM, he was ok, not great. Yeah, read he also believes that. I though it was the other way around, Adnan had good acceleration and an average sprint speed. While Martial is genuinely fast, what makes him so deadly is his dribbling ability combined with his strength.

Adnan (and many other Utd players) require man management more so than tactical coaching.

Mourinho has Fergie's man management skills (as well as being a master tactician)

There had been reports from 2014( I can post link if desired) of Mourinho praising his raw qualities and the player he could turn into, I think he may still see what he saw in him 2 years ago which could be promising for Januzaj.

If I remember correctly, the consensus in the early season was that he had bulked up over the summer (he did look a lot stronger) and needed time to get used to the new physique on the field.

In pre-season of 15/16, Shaw hired a private trainer, together with Adnan, they flied to Dubai, for more physical training. Both came back in good shapes. Too bad that, Shaw's season ended with a bad injury.

Januzaj is one of our most talented players and is just now 21. Whoever suggests we should get rid of him is beyond impatient. He had a tough year, but he will improve.

Please link me to stories that he has a bad attitude. He wanted to play, so he asked to go to Dortmund. Was that against the managers preference? Yes. But, it wasn't a bad attitude. Tuchel then said that Januzaj wasn't working because he was comparing everything Dortmund did to United. Again, I don't see how this is indicative of a bad attitude. It makes him more endearing to me if anything.

He has never had problems in training and always puts his head down and works hard on the pitch. He shut down PSG when they came knocking and was always very professional about which international team he would play for.

Ravel Morrison had a bad attitude. Januzaj? Please.

I agree with you on how Januzaj is extremely talented and deserves another chance. However, the attitude problems are there. He was the one who asked for the loan iirc, not LVG. The loan move to BVB really didn't fit him and stifled his development and probably his confidence took a blow as well.

I've heard of his attitude problems, but I haven't heard of any so bad that would not warrant him a second chance. Mourinho is a great man manager, if he can keep Balo's attitude in check, surely he can make Januaj come good

I really hope he and the likes of Memphis get to stay, not as starters, but still getting 30 appearances a season. Januzaj has already shown he can do it in the Premier League so I see no reason why he should leave

Januzaj insisted on where he would go on loan, to Dortmund. I don't think LVG was opposed to him going on loan somewhere, just not to a big club like that.

Well as stated, he went to Dortmund when LVG apparently didn't want him to. Going against a managers request is a pretty dumb thing to do. Also i remember Rio talking about a player crying for not getting chosen and everyone assumed it was Januzaj.

This along with his attitude on the field, particularly last season where he was very selfish

Januzaj was in & out of the team at the start of the season, hence a loan move was understandable given a talented youngster like him would be wanting regular game time to develop. Dortmund isn't exactly a terrible choice given their knack at developing their players, but competition is too strong there. Plus the fact that Januzaj wasn't fully focused mentally while at Dortmund made Tuchel lose faith in him.

About the LVG's criticism, it probably wasn't personal.. The Dutchman's known for pointing out mistakes of his players during post-match reviews & I reckon Januzaj is no exception to that. Scoring a goal is one thing but if you are all over the place for the remainder of the match then that is a different story. Only the parties involved will know the truth.

True and yeah in the Aston Villa game he lost the ball a few times as well. But that's what's supposed to happen if you take risks. LVG probably didn't like that. Thing is LVG criticized certain players a lot more than others. Like Rooney, Carrick, Fellaini, Darmian, Rojo got near to no criticism.

As far as I remember, he was criticized at BVB just because he compared everything of that club to Manchester United. I'm not sure if he really wanted to be loaned out, considering he was our goal scorer and match winner when we played Aston Villa earlier on in the season. (Last match before he went to BVB).

I hope Mourinho gives him the chance he deserves and hopefully he capitalizes on it!

Yes, I read similar reports, Tuchel told about him.

LvG wanted him to have a loan at a Championship club, or in Dutch league so that he could have regular game times. But he chose Dortmund. He think too highly about himself.

When Moyes was still here, I had a dream I played for United. I picked Moyes up for practice and he said we have to pick up Januzaj, too. I kept pronouncing his name wrong and Moyes was very adamant about me pronouncing it correctly.

I believe was a sign that he's meant for greatness and my subconscious was making sure I know how to pronounce his name correctly.

I have high hopes.

    Exactly, they were way better than the players at U21 level, so I can understand them being bored and mucking around. But this was under LvG. Fergie wouldn't have cared so much because both of them also had very good returns(goals+assists) from these games.

    Can I ask what you think would be a bare minimal expectation for adnan this season to be considered progressive or success? Do you think if he started 10 games is good enough?     Bare minimum would be to get a consistent run of 10-15 games, hasn't played more than 10 full games per season under LVG. I personally don't see him at No.10, considering the number of players we have there; Ibra, Rooney(highly doubt that Mourinho will play him further back than No.10), Mata, Herrera, Pereira(he's better than Adnan through the middle). On the evidence of the first season, I thought he would become a world class Rw, he was good at getting past people, had a decent end product(needed improvement), and could also use his right foot. Right now it's easier for him to play at Rw, Lingard is genuinely the only player that can play there.

    Good dribbling skills. Doesn't make good decisions. Doesn't pass at the right moments. His aggression looked better at the start of last season but the Dortmund loan was a disaster.

    See what he can do under Mourinho. If he doesn't improve, sell him.

    I really like Januzaj. If we aren't signing a right winger, I really want to see him play consistantly at that right wing spot. I want Mourinho to give him 5 games there and say there prove yourself and solidify your place as a starter. He barely got any minutes this season, he needs a string of games 5-10 even to get his confidence back. He's a really creative player and perfect to play the inverted spot at right wing. A young, dynamic front line of Martial, Rashford, Januzaj with maybe Memphis at #10 would be such a joy to watch. Obviously this wouldn't happen but I just tried seeing how to squeeze Memphis in and #10 seems the only way, which, in preseason he was really good playing in that position. It's amazing to see that United have such a young team now. I would love to see a team of De Gea, Shaw, Bailly, Smalling, Darmian, Schneiderlin, Herrera/Schweinsteiger, Rooney/Memphis at #10, Martial/Memphis, Ibra/Rashford, Januzaj/another rw/Lingard

    Technically he's good but in term of mentality he's still raw. He makes too many poor decision making. In that video shows most of the clips came from against low or mid table team. But against big team or big games, poor decision making can cause us losing 3 points. During Moyes he has the ability to be a top player but mentality was still raw and two years have gone passed his mentality is still the same as two years ago. May be under Mourinho he will mature. The fact that we haven't been linked with any right wingers so far means Mourinho may be still have faith in Memphis, Januzaj and Lingard.

    I'm not so sure. He had a great debut season, but he's basically lost 2 years of prime development time over the last two seasons. He's never kicked on from his early promise, so it's hard to see why he would now.

    According to WhoScored, Januzaj has played 1'485 minutes over the last two seasons in all competitions (including for Dortmund). That equates to only 16.5 full 90s over two years, and over that time he's gotten 1 goal and 1 assist.

    That's two years essentially wasted. It's also wasted during a time period where it's crucial that he get consistent game time if he is to develop. He will turn 22 next season, so he's basically in the last season where he can be considered a 'prospect'.

    I'd like to see him get a chance next season, but I think that would mean the end for Pereira (which I don't think is the end of the world). Basically, I imagine our RW being something like: New Signing > Lingard > Januzaj.

    There is also the issue of whether you instead try to squeeze Memphis into that RW position some how. Personally, I don't think Memphis could ever effectively be our RW, but if you consider his previous potential, and the fact he will probably not ever displace Martial, it might be worth trying to fit him in at RW. This is also worth thinking about when you're considering whether to put Januzaj at RW.

    Yeah that's why I'm not getting my hopes high on him turning out to be a regular United player. His development has stifled immensely under LVG. Yeah I genuinely don't see how Pereira will get game time under Mourinho, he's similar to Mata.

    I don't know what's going to happen with Memphis, can't see him on the right either, had high hopes from him post world cup. He might play in the Europa league and back up for Martial in the prem.

    Seems logical, with the talks about Mkhitaryan and Ounas and Embolo. Personally I would keep Adnan over Ounas. Don't understand Embolo links, considering we have Memphis, Martial and Rashford who can all play there.

    Embolo has mad potential on Fifa, all I know about him. Have seen Ounas a few times, have huge doubts

    Have seen him only at the Euros so can't say I've seen a large sample size but he's done a few things well. Obviously he's young and not very strong so he gets pushed off the ball and he doesn't track back very well. But he's extremely fast with the ball, he controls the ball well when he going full speed, and he attacks relentlessly. It seems as though he gets the ball and instantly tries to get it to the penalty area.

    He doesn't have the flashy dribbling like some of the other young players but he beats the defender and moves the ball with urgency. Tbh he seems to be like Zaha from what I've seen.

    This, even we understand. Why the hell he wanted the loan to Dortmund then? LvG had wanted him to be loaned to Championship clubs or Dutch league clubs so that he can he regular playing times. But he chose Dortmund.
