I don't know about A-league but for leagues like MLS being a good technical player isn't good enough if your not physical and can run. That's why Pirlo is a great player but average in MLS.

I somewhat agree about Herrera, but I don't think a new manager can make Schneiderlin much more effective on the ball, he's not nearly as good a passer as Carrick, what he can offer is energy off the bench when you need to see through a game but I'm not sure about him at all.

To be honest, as much as I love the lad, Schweinsteiger didn't bring much to the table at all since arriving here. He still has great passing and possession skills but frankly, he's not nearly as quick as he used to be and I think he was slightly overweight last year AND he seems to be having issues with injuries. I hope he gets real fit and all, but I'm not really getting my hopes up for him directing the midfield like a boss consistently again.

Bit of a sweeping statement there, he's more than good enough to start against 80 or 90% of teams in the league especially if he's protected in the same way Scholes was & we utilise his passing in the same way. I'm glad he's staying even though over the years I've been a big critic of his for large parts of his United career, bar 2 seasons where he has been one of the best players in the squad (I.e. his second season and the one where we won No. 20).

This year will be a transitional year as well with Mourinho bringing in his players and trimming those that were exclusively Moyes or LVG signings. Plus there will (hopefully) be heaps of kids playing. Having Ferguson players like him and Rooney with all their experience will hopefully ease that transition.
