Reports Say Trump Used to Eavesdrop on Employees’ Phone Calls
Six former employees of Donald Trump‘s big Floridian estate called Mar-a-Lago told BuzzFeed that they’re pretty sure their former boss was listening in on their phone calls with a switchboard in his bedroom.
Naturally, his spokesperson, Hope Hicks, shot that down pretty quickly and two of the six former employees who spoke to BuzzFeed said that while he had the capability to listen in on calls made from Mar-a-Lago landlines, he didn’t actually do it. Others pointed out that staff were advised that Trump could be listening in and two sources told the site that it was obvious when he was because lights on some phone consoles would light up if he took his receiver out of its cradle.
The landlines are the key element here if this is true. Because they are business phones, some legal experts explained that Trump could skirt Florida laws that make it illegal to listen to a call without the consent of all involved parties.
That, or he could just say it was John Miller who was listening, not him.
