Yes but all those take place in an alternate universes. This short story offered 0 explenation or reason for me to be ok with peoples heart beats beating in morse code. You need a reason to suspend disbelief. If she introduced the world as a place where everyone had a unique heartbeat fine I'm down for it. But for all intensive purposses this is a story about some chick who knows morse code and her boyfriend and only her boyfriend has a heart who talks and the best thing it can come up with is all will be well?

The writing prompt says it's beating in morse code. Got it. It doesn't say in a universe where peoples hearts are a voluntary muscle. The loved one should still be shocked this is occuring. If they are not shocked that should be explained too. The fact that the loved one is just cool this guys heart is beating in morse code is sloppy and boring to read.

Yeah I did. A better story would explain how a heart is beating arrhythmically and the guy isn't dying. Or maybe the husband is dying, but wants to send one last message. The author seems to think a heart beating in morse code is a "steady beat". It lacks an understanding of basic human physiology.

He consistently uses gay as a pejorative. He's not the worst human ever, but he has prejudices he needs to admit and consciously needs to fight against. Being publicly humiliated and feeling awkward isn't the worst thing. It will make him a better person.
