  1. All you people saying it's players' weak passwords to blame are being a little stupid.

There was a breach of SV's servers that allowed these passwords to be dumped in the first place or none of this would be happening. Yes, people needed to change their passwords after, but only because of this breach.

It is 100% SV's responsibility to secure their customer's account information, wherever they choose to store it.

Since I dont know where he lives or anything about the guy, I dont know. But ill take your word for it.
I was just stating that if he lived in such a country justice is harder to achieve since you wont be backed by laws.

Is this database information not the same info taken when the GM passwords were obtained back in the day? I would imagine it is. In which case, user password safety has nothing to do with it really.

This kind of drama never helps anyone. People are basically just riling each other up and at some point things can go south pretty fast.
It's like feeding a fire while the fire is about to burn you.
Revenge mobs are just never a good idea. And most of the threats against people in here are just plain sad.
    Vigilante justice for the lose.

I doubt any of that would help anyone. As much as some people like to call Star Vault incompetent I doubt they have passwords saved in plain text.

And for all the people who keep saying release Insta's personal data....

We've already done that before. He deleted his youtube, and I've long since forgotten his Facebook because of those weird Cyrillic characters. But ask around, I'm sure somebody still has it...
Also the Mods and GM's don't approve of us getting some petty revenge. How sad.

This fuck has tried TWICE to access my forum account in the last few months, so I'm just waiting till he succeeds and you start seeing me post weird (Weirder than regular) soon.

Ha! It was not a case of years! You're either crazy or lying like crazy to try and cover your ass. That happened a month and a half ago, two months ago, tops.

We are not trying to hide or lie about anything, what account are you referring to, if we refused to restore it more then likely we had no evidence it was breached , or it was shared and we had evidence of such.

^This. It's Pown's account that I'm talking about. It's been going on for the past few months and you haven't done anything about it. I find it hard to believe that his account was hacked years ago and you didn't know it and the hacker only just now chose to use it.

Tell him to PM me, I am unsure of this issue , but it doesn't sound related.

Actually, that's not how that breech was achieved. Basically Discord changed his password to something simple, so someone could test something. Then he never changed his password back after allowing them to test it. Then there was some massive fallout, because another GM abused their power to affect the outcome of a very serious siege. Then they just logged right onto the account.

I'm sure it's changed now. But from Discord's GM account you had the ability to give other people GM status, add/remove game time(It was theorized you could initiate CC charges by turning the time to 1 minute), change account passwords, view all of the "general account information", and a list of all accounts with a search function.

You did not have access to CC information, the actual password, characters on an account, a list of GM commands(the ingame spawning etc was achieved because another GM had personally given them a list of commands), general access to a database of any kind, or access to anything related to the "hard server".

If an account was targeted it was A) Account name was associated with a politically nefarious "Game identity". B) The account name had been shared.

  16. 2 separate incidents afaik.

There was the one you are describing, and the actual DB breach/dump involving the chronicles which is why the chronicles are now gone.

I wasn't aware there was any such thread. That's too bad. Now everyone has access to my -27,000 euros.

Is that even necessary? When the "Duke of Wessex" used the accounts of darned near everyone on his forum to read their private messages and mentate over their contents, he supposedly didn't have to have anyone's password in any kind of plain text--

just the hash of it, somehow, while using the SuperAdmin's account (someone else's, that is). From there, he could log in as someone else, give an account all kinds of permissions, and spoof messages undetected.

Maybe I misunderstood his method as Bastor explained it.
