Thats the cost of being the #1 contributor to medical and scientific research in the world. Research is expensive.

Ever heard of Roche? Novartis? Roche is spending ~10 billion a year on R&D. Novartis is spending another ~9.9 billion a year on R&D. Both are European companies that outspend any US company in pharmaceutical R&D.
