I'm tired of explaining why political correctness isn't something you should trumpet so I'll quote an old post I made:

I don't think you understand what most peoples' objection to political correctness is.

Political correctness as used now is a metaphor.

What it literally means is the Stalinist practice of declaring a certain position to be correct, politically, and for all other opinions on the topic to be counter-revolutionary, dangerous, and wrong.

For instance, the question of large or small submarines for the Soviet navy. Before the party decided what was correct, naval thinkers and really anybody could have opinions on if the USSR should build large submarines or small submarines. It was decided that small submarines were the way to go, and that large submarines, which could stay out at sea longer and act as more effective launch platforms for nuclear weapons were the incorrect position. Those who favoured large submarines became caricaturised as hawkish warmongers who had betrayed the people's revolution and were to be purged if they didn't fall in-line. Until of course the party later favoured large submarines.

In the 1990's Republicans called the left's demands for language to be changed a doctrine of political correctness. Use the term Stewardess instead of flight attendant? You're a sexist. Prefer BC and AD to BCE and CE? Well you're intolerant of non-Christians.

The reason the metaphor works is because an arbitrary authority has ascribed a motivation to your language and intent that doesn't necessarily exist. Large submarines? Warmonger. Use the term transexual instead of transgendered? Transphobia!

Currently there's a resurgence of PC culture, only instead of it being used as a slight, it's being used as a term of self-identification by a generation that doesn't understand its origin or meaning.

I want trans people and homosexual people to be accepted by a compassionate society. I don't want to be thought of as homophobic because I think adding more letters and mathematical notation to LGBT (LGBTQQ+) is a great way to make an unreadable salad of letters and symbols.

PC culture focuses on language and word choice, rather than ideas and meaning, and that's a major failing. But the reason why people hate it is because it demands conformity and submission instead of discussion and understanding.
