I didn't know they reported stuff?

It was all over my feed.

It was trending on mine. I posted an article and I also had news feeds that carried the attack. Maybe recheck who you have liked on Facebook.

I look at tons of political stuff on Facebook and the internet in general. There is no reason why this story shouldn't have been #1 the entire day like the Orlando shooting was. Three different times in the course of 7 hours and not one mention? Sorry, something's not right.

Well, one was in Florida and the other was in Turkey. It seems pretty reasonable for Americans to be shown news from America with greater prominence.

Facebook, Reddit, etc should not be a place to validate your particular viewpoints. These sites exist to generate revenue for owners/shareholders.

It is no surprise that many of these sites are overwhelming liberal, so they'd be doing themselves a disservice by not driving users to specific content that they will consume.

If you're looking for news and discussion for any topic, you need to find the sites and/or publications that cater to your specific wants and needs.

I always laugh when people bitch about r/politics. That sub is run and looks exactly how I expect it to look. Conversely, r/con is also run exactly how I'd expect.

It's like bitching about MSNBC. I mean...what is that going to accomplish? They cater to a specific crowd.

Here's the thing- obviously I don't go to Facebook for news, but there are unfortunately millions of people who only see headlines when they log onto Facebook everyday and look at that trending section.

If you are the average person who thinks that these are the most trending stories in the world, then you are being grossly misled. You assume the entire thing is generated from an algorithm, when in reality they have an entire staff filtering out important stories that don't fit the leftist agenda.

Again, this isn't exactly groundbreaking for a lot of people, but I think it's a lot more misleading than you're giving them credit for. If it wasn't, they wouldn't have had one of their senior officials meet with Washington to talk about this in the first place.

And I'll always say it's about money.

These companies have one goal and one goal only...to make money. They will do lip service to whatever government panel calls them up, but nothing will change.

The fact that the vast amount of the consumers are stupid and not capable of critical thinking is only fuel for the fire of "edited and filtered content". Why would you want to stir up the base?

We, as critical thinkers, draw our conclusions regarding events by reading various stories from multiple sources to draw our own conclusions.

Most sheep just eat what they are fed. And if the sheep are eating straw and shitting gold, why would you change that?
