So if Rooney really gets benched like a lot of people are saying, who will be the new captain? Mata? Ibrah? Smalling?

Edit: For everyone saying he won't get benched, where will he play? We have too many ST/MIDS; Ibrah, Martial, Mkhitaryan, Mata, Schweinstiger, Schneiderlin, etc.

People are out of their minds.

Mourinho loves Rooney. He has praised him in interviews for years and he tried to sign him for Chelsea.

Rooney will be the first person on the team sheet.

People keep bringing these comments up but past comments and actions from a few years ago aren't a massive deal seeing as Rooney isn't the player he once was.

Mourinho will probably make new comments raving about him and nor will these be the be all and end all considering he isn't going to come in and immediately disrupt and mess with one of the most powerful people at United. Mourinho is too smart to do that.

He'll go with him early on but he'll bench him sooner than people think if he isn't performing.

Where will he play? I just cant see him being the midfield engine mourinho has in his teams.

DM? I dont think hes good enough defensively to play there.

Not just because of one game. Everyone who have eyes and general knowledge of football can see Rooney is in decline for about 3 years now. So yes, we need a new captain if he is not gonna get enough game time

It's pathetic isn't it? Either they are still hurting from Iceland or the Iceland match was the fuel they craved to cry about Rooney some more.

People are suggesting Schweinsteiger, a player who spent half of the season in Germany. A player who has done nothing at United to earn his place as a captain. It's ridiculous.

Can't go anywhere on here without seeing Ibrah and Mkhitaryan. (Don't get me wrong I'm ecstatic they're coming to ManU but I've seen the same articles 10 times).
