Yeah, but goddamn just imagine if the Germans managed to field even 25% of the Maus's they had planned. 100 of those giant things with near impenetrable armor backed up with Infantry would have led to a longer war for sure.

Yes because moving tanks the sizes of houses would totally not invite every Allied bomber to bomb the hell out of it. Hell B-25's and even B-17's and B-24's couldn't miss something that large.

the K98 influnced both the springfield and the lee-enfield

K98: 1935

Springfield:1903 (gee I wonder why its called the M1903)

Lee-Enfield:1895 for the MLE and 1907 for the SMLE (I forgot how long the Lee-Enfield served, best rifle 10/10)

It makes sense why the Allies win, they have Time Machines.

Implying that the allies would even need to bomb it. The very existence of Mausen in the field would cause the entire German supply chain to collapse on itself, resulting in critical mass of logistic failure. The entire German army would be stripped of all weapons and supplies instantly as the ensuing Rommelian Logistical Vortex Anomaly devours the supplies of the German army before finally destroying itself under it's own pressure. The war ends in 3 days and Germany ends up in massive debt from having to purchase clothes for all the naked soldiers coming home.

Perhaps he meant the Gewehr 98? Which is mildly plausible given that it comes before both the Springfield and the SMLE version of the Enfield, but still hilariously wrong especially in the case of the latter.

He said K98, so I'm going with the K98. Totally agree with the supply lines thing.....holy shit I just saw the greatest quote loafing into hoi4, that totally goes with this.

Most likely they were referring to the Gewehr 98... but I mean... taking the good ideas of others and incorporating it in your design/work/whatever is just an extension of human nature and our cognitive processes as opposed to G98 so stronk, very stronk, filthy allied posers go home.

The lee enfield had a completely different bolt than the mauser. I think they utilized a similiar stripper clip guide rail system for the Mk I Enfields? But I mean, when you talk about something influencing another thing, usually it involves taking the ideas that work well as opposed to I don't know, just having some sort of reiteration of everything that a given thing did.

True but you know that is too logical for a Wehraboo.

Suspect artillery would have been an even more effective counter than bombers. Even neglecting the vulnerability of the roof armor to 105mm HEAT, the thing is going to be just blizzarded with HE and/or phosphorous to the point where it can't actually move or do anything and the crew will be reduced to gibbering and/or concussed and/or dead.

Yeah, I can see that one Maus actually making to battle would be targeted by every gun and every shell type available within 1 minute.
