The "I miss you" (self.MGTOW)

I'm certain many around here are familiar with that phrase. I still don't quite get why females keep using it. I have my hypothesis but I don't want to "set the tone" for this topic. What in your opinion compels women to say/write "I miss you" - and expect a response in kind?

She misses the attention you gave her, the gifts you gave her, and the validation she felt. She's not getting any validation from any other man at the moment, and since you have a history, she thinks it'll work on you. She is using it to emotionally manipulate you into thinking she cares about you.

That's a good explanation. My hypothesis is that she just wants to check whether you still care about her, whether she's still in your thoughts and to receive validation from that if you confirm that "you've missed her too". It's funny that these women think it would work on me. I have never missed anybody and although I've played along a few times, it would take some serious hamstering to perceive my dishonest reply as a validating one. But I'm sure if anyone can spin it that way, it's the wimmenz :)
