Realistically it is in terms of stability. The US is a global hegemon in terms of culture, economics, and military power. If the real world was a game of Civilization, the US would have already won.

Great Briton won long before the US even made it on the board. The thing is there have been many super powers in the past: they come and go. They are, by no terms absolute.... The Mongols, Rome, Ottomans were all significant in their time but they don't last forever and they never will.

The US has really only been a powerhouse since the 40s or so and took off in the 80s especially. It's only been since the gall of the USSR that the US has been the full hegemon.

Great Briton was a much more significant power in its time and that was back in a time where you could conquer and force residents to pay your taxes and cut their heads off when they didn't.

Absolutely, the US is number one in the world for many reasons, but don't think for a second that this will absolutely the case in 10, 25, or 50 years..

Thank about how much China's position has changed in terms of power over the last 15 years.

Need to get enough allied city states to vote for a world leader, and later turns take less time. I agree though the direction of the US is not a good one. We can be great, but I feel like the current politicians are more worried about feelings and being re-elected than math. China will probably have major issues in a decade when factories can be 100% automated, but so will the rest of the world.

Honeslty trump being on the presidential ticket is more than enough reasons for people to be sketched out with the US's direction... There's so much polarization in the US.

In Canada the only place our politicians disagree is fiscal for the most part with the exception of wedge issues in the past election, and people overwhelmingly rejected the wedge as seen by the polls.

Trump is a result of the politicians not listening to the people. What's the worst he can do? Build a wall and remove illegal immigrants? Negotiate trade deals. He has mostly isolationist views, and he is held in check by Congress and the courts. What is wrong with people caring about issues? In Canada you don't have full freedom of speech.
