He said he's staying. Whether he deserves it or not that's up to the next coach. There are a few that don't deserve the cap either

Eric Dier is avoiding flack but he was absolutely dreadful last night, he ambled around over-hitting passes, not intercepting opponent passes and never showing for the ball.
Carrick would have been infinitely better to have - he'd definitely have read the initial pass for Icelands 2nd goal.

Personally, I think he can probably be helpful as a squad player but I think they need to move away from him being a central figure in the team. Almost the same situation as United.

He's going to beat Shiltons record, like it or not.

What a terrible reason to make a squad selection around.

Say what you want about Rooney hes never swayed by public opinion, always adamant to prove people wrong and so far he's (kinda) done that

Don't see what Rooney retiring would achieve for England anyway, it's not as if he was the reason they lost, he might be part of the problem but def not on his head

He wasn't the worst player on the pitch and he wasn't the reason they lost. Which is even more damning for England.

Not even close - Kane, Dier, Alli, Sturridge, Hart were all 100% worse than Rooney.

Whoever the next manager will be will have to tell Rooney to stay at home just like when Joachim Löw told Michael Ballack to not come back with the German team. Only then people can see what the younger midfielders are really made of.
