It's inexplicable. Hodgson doesn't bring any wingers in the squad and ignores the one player who has been beating players much better than Iceland for the last 6 months.

I'm surprised so few people are drawing parallels with our rugby team from last autumn. A group of very talented lads went out there without a set style of play, looked mentally fragile and came up short. They then replaced their head coach with somebody with balls and look at them now. #2 in the world, unbeaten in 9 matches. Grand Slam, Aussie whitewash in their back yard.

With the players we have in our team we should be a decent game for any team. Yet year after year we go out there - whether it be in qualifying or a major tournament - and produce abject performances; no bottle, no spirit, no fight.

We need a real fucking manager to go in there, set a playing style and get on top of those boys and make them fucking perform. If they can't handle it drop them. We need a motivator more than anything else.

Kane is just a generally useful player. Sterling and Sturridge shouldn't play tho. And Wilshere shouldn't be the first to come on. Didn't they have Milner or someone on the bench?

I'd say Sturridge had a decent game. Whipped in some nice crosses, and was one of the only sources of danger to come from the England side. This all, despite being played out of position.

LvG's subs sometimes seem weird, but he always has a reason for them (although I think he overcomplicates it a lot).

Hodgson on the other hand absolutely fucked us over by making the Dier-Wilshere sub at half time. After putting on Vardy he was basically forced to wait until the 85th minute to make the Rooney sub because his choice was either putting on Henderson / Milner earlier (not what you want when chasing a goal) or sacrificing all midfield stability by putting on Rashford which he obviously couldn't do until late on. Keeping Dier on would have enabled us to put on Rashford much earlier.

I know he's only 18 but he should've had way more game time than Roy gave him. Not a starting role, but at least bring him on in the 60th when it's clear that Sterling, Kane and Sturridge aren't doing enough.

I'm not biased, look at what he did when he came on for the last few minutes.

I was shocked the most with the decision to bring Wilshere over Drinkwater. I mean, Wilshere was brilliant for England in the past, but he started 2 games last season? It was clear that he wasn't 100% fit as well. Drinkwater had a consistently good season AND won the league, how do you leave him out completely???

So really the way I see it, Kane is a good player, but not good enough to be considered every time over other options England had in their squad. He's been a bit off form and I would have liked to see Roy roll the dice way earlier with a change of pace at striker.

You're not over reacting at all, anyone who watched the game could tell you that. rather than try and pass through the iceland defense Rashford ran at them and had success getting down low and in the box with the ball.
