【ニュースの反響】NY写真家ビル・カニンガムの訃報に相次ぐ追悼メッセージ

　NYでは名物的な存在でドキュメンタリー映画にもなったファッションフォトグラファーのビル・カニンガム（Bill Cunningham、享年87歳）の訃報を受け、ファッション界やクリエイティブ界、そして彼のストリートスナップや映画のファンなどからも悲しみの声が挙がっている。NYデザイナーのトム・ブラウン（Thom Browne）は26日にパリで開催したショーの開始前に黙祷の時間を設けるなど、多くのデザイナーやジャーナリスト、アーティストといったゆかりのある関係者らが様々な形で哀悼の意を表現。続々とSNSに投稿されている、生前のビルの写真やメッセージをまとめた。

In his nearly 40 years working for @nytimes, Bill Cunningham was both a dedicated chronicler of fashion and an unlikely cultural anthropologist, one who used the changing dress habits of the people he photographed to chart the broader shift away from formality and toward something more individualistic. Bill put it this way in an essay he wrote for @nytimes in 2002: "Fashion is as vital and as interesting today as ever. I know what people with a more formal attitude mean when they say they're horrified by what they see on the street. But fashion is doing its job.
