He cannot handle pressure very well. Once this season he refused to take a penalty for dortmund during a shootout. If there is pressure on him and the fans are not behind him he crumbles. He stays away from taking responsibility

Similar to Memphis in terms of a confidence type player. On a like topic, I really hope Memphis is given more opportunities to prove his worth.

Yes, we have Martial and potentially Mkhitariyan, but I'm still very behind Memphis. A shame there are some who will disagree with me, but everybody has their own opinion.

With that said I'm hoping for the best from all our players and that they all get the proper support from each other as well as us fans. I'm not saying that this season will be our season, but it has the potential to be one hell of a season.

Ibra/Rash up front, Mkhitaryan on the right (Memphis doesn't play on the right), Martial is a lock for the left - I genuinely find it hard to see a crack for Memphis to open.

Which is not something I'm going to whole heartedly complain about. If anything I'd love to see Memphis being featured in some cup games and potentially some Euros as a way to allow Tony to rest.

Oooooh shit, it's megathread time!

Anyway, repeating what I've said in the latest Mkhitaryan related threads, I simply couldn't be happier. Unbelievable upgrade on our options for the right wing and not only that, a great player and really versatile. Alongside Ibra joining and Mourinho managing us, these are some really exciting times as a United fan.

Same. It worries me he's been with Dortmund for a few seasons but only this season he shone and people were all over him now. He's probably one of the best available RW around but the pressure might be really hard on him.

Feeling we need an Ibra or someone similar who can head the ball. We've tried to play down the wings in the recent past and it's simply not worked as we've got nobody to take control of a cross. We need that player or M&M will ultimately prove innefective

You'd be surprised to know, Ibra does not head the ball that often. He is much more comfy with the ball at his feet. He's quite the poor header of the ball.

That is the point of inverted wingers. Crosses are very, very low percentage, so instead use wingers cutting inside to carry the ball to positions that are difficult to pass into. The key is having players with good skill in interior/linkup play inside the box so shots are high quality (something LVG actually taught well).

what position has he played the most last season / and what is his best position? I know he plays either CAM or RW but it seems like he does better at CAM. I hope he adjusts to the EPL quickly. its gonna be tough with the physicality here

Majority of last season was RW, then LW then CAM.

He played brilliantly on the RW (8 goals, 9 assists from 19 games) and I imagine Mourinho got him to play there.

van Gaal was right about one thing, and that was that we need a fast creator in the line behind the striker. Mkhi is nippy and agile, his vision is insane and he's speed of thought is great too. He doesn't hesitate or slow down attacks which we've really lacked given Lingard and Mata have started all season. So we really can't be unhappy with this signing in any way shape or form.

I think also his ability to find forwards in behind is huge, finally, Toto will have someone capable of spotting his runs and Mou's system will also allow Toto more space to make these runs. Usually hate fawning over potentially attacking combinations, because in truth they usually flop (Rooney, RvP, Januzaj, Mata or Falcao, RvP, AdM, Rooney for example), but Martial-Ibra-Mkhi has a genuinely great blend of qualities that should hopefully intertwine well for once. I think the James deal isn't happening, but if we do somehow snag Pogba we could run City and Guardiola close.

Great start to the window and let's hope on Pogba and Ounas.
