Widely reported that we will soon be signing the Armenian RW for a fee of £26.3m.

He's a huge mentality/confidence player. So i do hope we get behind him and he's not booed if he has a few bad/mediocre performances. If we can get him to tick he's a player of the season type of player otherwise he could disappear

He cannot handle pressure very well. Once this season he refused to take a penalty for dortmund during a shootout. If there is pressure on him and the fans are not behind him he crumbles. He stays away from taking responsibility

Similar to Memphis in terms of a confidence type player. On a like topic, I really hope Memphis is given more opportunities to prove his worth.

Yes, we have Martial and potentially Mkhitariyan, but I'm still very behind Memphis. A shame there are some who will disagree with me, but everybody has their own opinion.

With that said I'm hoping for the best from all our players and that they all get the proper support from each other as well as us fans. I'm not saying that this season will be our season, but it has the potential to be one hell of a season.

Ibra/Rash up front, Mkhitaryan on the right (Memphis doesn't play on the right), Martial is a lock for the left - I genuinely find it hard to see a crack for Memphis to open.

Which is not something I'm going to whole heartedly complain about. If anything I'd love to see Memphis being featured in some cup games and potentially some Euros as a way to allow Tony to rest.

Nonetheless as you said it seems very unlikely to happen, but a boy can dream.

Feeling we need an Ibra or someone similar who can head the ball. We've tried to play down the wings in the recent past and it's simply not worked as we've got nobody to take control of a cross. We need that player or M&M will ultimately prove innefective

You'd be surprised to know, Ibra does not head the ball that often. He is much more comfy with the ball at his feet. He's quite the poor header of the ball.

That is the point of inverted wingers. Crosses are very, very low percentage, so instead use wingers cutting inside to carry the ball to positions that are difficult to pass into. The key is having players with good skill in interior/linkup play inside the box so shots are high quality (something LVG actually taught well).

what position has he played the most last season / and what is his best position? I know he plays either CAM or RW but it seems like he does better at CAM. I hope he adjusts to the EPL quickly. its gonna be tough with the physicality here

He was a winger last season. Layaway played behind Aubamayang with Reus on the left.

Majority of last season was RW, then LW then CAM.

He played brilliantly on the RW (8 goals, 9 assists from 19 games) and I imagine Mourinho got him to play there.

Oooooh shit, it's megathread time!

Anyway, repeating what I've said in the latest Mkhitaryan related threads, I simply couldn't be happier. Unbelievable upgrade on our options for the right wing and not only that, a great player and really versatile. Alongside Ibra joining and Mourinho managing us, these are some really exciting times as a United fan.
