If you want to start, those aren't bad entry points. Fallout 3 is definitely not a bad place for beginners. It introduces you to some of the main concepts behind what actual Fallout is.

Fallout New Vegas is more of a celebration of Fallout. It's deeper than 3 by a long shot, and much more of a role playing game.

Fallout 4 is a travesty. Avoid it at all costs.
