An estimated 520,000 people were murdered in 2000 around the globe. Another study estimated the world-wide murder rate at 456,300 in 2010 with a 35% increase since 1990.[64]

[One effort to quantify the population gave a "rough estimate" that 0.3 percent of adults in the US (1-in-300) are transgender], overlapping to an unknown degree with the estimated 3.5 percent of US adults (1-in-30) who identify as LGB.[105][106]

So if transgender people are murdered at the same rate as everyone else, we would expect 456300 * .003 = 1369 such murders annually. Now, there's lots of room to quibble over the prevalence of transgender people, but most activists seem to think the commonly accepted numbers are too low. If they're right, then we'd expect even more.

And the survey says?

Worldwide, one transgender person is murdered every three days.[1]

One every three days = about 122 a year.

Of course, that's just the cases where we know the victim was transgender, and activists turned up the information. But then we're still saying that they have to have a worse than 9% success rate at this just to support the claim that transgender people are killed at the same rate as cisgender people. If we're claiming that they're massively discriminated against in this regard, then the identification failure has to be even more dramatic.

Activists clearly need to step up their game in naming victims.
