Hi.
I am 14. I am Korean. I have been living in America for the past year.
I don't hate Japan or Japanese people. Japanese food is good. Udon and soba is amazing. I'm not a fan of your language or your movies (the voices creep me out) but I guess you guys are cool. I've met a lot of half-Japanese people here and they're nice. But I get really frustrated when somebody asks me why I have this thing against Japan. It's like asking a Jew, what do you have against the swastika?
That's like, a really stupid question. I don't know where to start. So I get really frustrated. I get so annoyed how these Americans don't even know how much of a hellhole your grandparents made in Korea. So let me try to put this all together and make this into one thing. I don't think I can, but let me try.
Do you know how much my heart aches every time an old lady who was forced to be a sex slave in the WWII era for your horny soldiers dies without being able to get a formal apology from Japan? How angry I get every time your dumbass prime minister makes WWII references and you guys are so perfectly okay with it? Your stupid prime minister prays to grade-A war criminals and German prime ministers kneel in front of memorials for the victims of the Holocaust. Do you know how I want to scream every time you make another claim over Dokdo? When you made that drawing of Japanese fishers and the seal-like creatures being friends when in truth they shot all of them for their fat and skin? Do you know how I want to slap every single jerk in my class who make kamikaze jokes just to annoy me? Yes, it annoys the hell out of me. Because although only 1% of the kamikaze soldiers were Korean, God knows how many other Koreans you sent to the front lines. You forced boys to build factories and aircrafts, made them stand in a line, and shot all of them because they knew "military secrets." You either lied to girls that they'll get to work in a factory or just randomly grabbed girls off the road and sent them off to be raped continuously by your soldiers. And when you lost the war, you abandoned them on some random island and blew up almost all records regarding this. When there was an earthquake in Japan, you killed all the Koreans in the area because they were the reason the earthquake happened. Wow. Explain to me how the hell they could make an earthquake happen.
You killed the Korean queen. Just walked into the palace and killed her. Burned her corpse and dumped the ashes in the pond. No other time did this occur in history. Because nobody was a barbaric as you were. And you call the Koreans who stood up against you terrorists. Tell me, who are the terrorists? Who built the prisons? Who did the biological experiments on whom? Who put a mother and baby in a single cell and experimented whether or not the mother will protect the baby or step on it when the floor was heated beyond human tolerance? Yes, the Koreans used violence, too. But is standing against terrorism still terrorism? Gosh, Japanese officials went through a princess's skirts to find the king's stamp or whatever you call it. Is there anything ruder you can manage to do to a member of the royal family? Oh right, I almost forgot. You killed the queen. I'm sorry, you probably want the recognition.
But what I really want to ask you is, why do you hide all this?
So at least you have the hearts to be ashamed? Trust me, you should be more ashamed of hiding every thing you did.
History is where everything starts. Warping your history will not benefit your children. Stop lying to the kids. Say sorry. Say sorry to the old grandmas. Say sorry to everybody. Say sorry to Korea.
