2016: the year the blonde mopheads took over the world.

Geert Wilders, Boris Johnson and Donald Trump - the day the Earth stood blond.

To be fair, Geert's about as naturally blonde as Samuel L Jackson.

The man has the complexion of a bruised orange, I don't think there's anything natural left about him.

Donald trump and fuckin' Boris are statistically likely to have nuclear weapons soon.

When did we slip into an alternate universe

Please not Theresa. Please not Theresa.

Priorities plz

Fuck I would escort Boris myself to number 10 if it keeps that clueless moron from the job.

She would be the worst possible outcome out of any possible PM.

Is Boris most likely at this point?

Boris or Gove are the most popular among the grass root Conservatives.

Is this the last time I get to post this cartoon?

You'll be posting it more often. Gove will either be PM or 2nd in command.

That's an even more depressing thought than the main result!

Pob Gove has cheered me right up.

Gove is a non-starter. The party knew he was a liability with the electorate which is why he disappeared into the background for the last election.

Gove is free market and wants to privatise everything to shut down unions. Labour better shape up it'll be huge fight if he gets more power

This is worse than the ref result. Cameron and Osborne are going to look positively centrist in comparison.

And it can't be Gove. Honestly there is no way he could win. So it's going to be fucking Boris. Oh fuck is all I can really think at the moment.

Bojo/Trump transatlantic tag team.

"The same thing we do every night Bojo, try to take over the world!"

As figurehead of the campaign to kick Cameron out, I think so. Country seems to like him.

I've yet to meet anyone that likes Boris. Who are these people?

On reddit, the general consensus seems to be:

What an absolute blithering idiot. Why is this guy even remotely near anything to do with politics?

In the real world, the general consensus seems to be:

Wow. What a fun and quirky oddjob. We should just make him prime minister because he looks so random XDD

oddjob.

overpowered motherfucker

I've met people in the real world. They don't appear to like him either...

isn't osborne technically second in command? not that it means much, pretty sure boris will be PM

Give, Osbourne and Johnson the 3 most likely. Osbourne probably going to walk out now too though.

The other half of me hates gove even more

With the amount of Remain-supporting MPs, I find that Boris would be a strange choice at this stage. Appointing someone so pro-Leave has the potential to trigger a vote of no confidence, one which would likely see many Conservatives cross the floor.

Were that the case, a general election so soon could be a disaster for all parties (with the exception of UKIP).

If Boris becomes PM, we have to blame Ian Hislop and Paul merton.

[–]SplurgyAGreater London 27

He had to go. He really dropped the ball on this one.

Say 'goodbye' to the moderate side of the Tory party. Johnson, Gove and IDS are going to turn this country into a fucking theme park

He risked everything to pander to UKIP voters so he could beat Ed Miliband at the election.

Resigns one year later. Hope that one year of power was worth it Dave.

One of the hugest political blunders ever.

[–]Xzal 10

Exactly. He wanted to grab the Ukip and labour voters and gambled on the Eu referendum being a remain victory.

Now its gone tits up for him, hes running like the coward he is. The hall mark of a good leader is not one who runs from a problem pretending he is "atoning" for fucking up.

A good leader is one who admits he fucked up and stays and fixes it.

And did so by calling a referendum to settle an internal party political matter. His lack of judgement is colossal.

It is a giant tragedy this coincided with Corbyn, who has been truly useless. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, but he has been utterly woeful

Agreed. He's a wet blanket who doesn't seem to be pleasing anyone. His sensible ideas are bogged down with bad ones and he isn't charismatic - if he stays in charge of the Labour party until 2020 then we're going to have another Tory government until 2025.

Hopefully he's next to resign

Question from an outsider here. How much blame is Labour going to catch from this? I understand the Lions share rests with Cameron, but from what I have read, Labour/Corbyn did not exactly do a good job motivating its constituents either. Is there any truth to that?

He'll probably be remembered as the man who wrecked the Union.

They would be very, very brave. Corbyn could well pull the plug on the EU exit if he's elected, and that's a LOT of potential voters for him if true.

Are you seriously suggesting that he would go against a democratic vote?

That would be suicide.

If he gets the democratic vote by running on a platform opposing it, then I would say he has a mandate to ignore the referendum.

That's the mechanics of it, but the vast majority of people vote based upon the leadership.

Didn't expect this to come so soon. Absolutely can't stand the man and will forever remember him as the man who opened this decision up to an ill-informed electorate. This is his legacy and he should be ashamed.

I think he really thought people would chose to remain. But I'm still angry that he did this. As someone from Flandres I'm very pissed. A lot of jobs could be lost now in my region (max 12.000 jobs) and a lot of exports (and therefore money) will be gone. The UK are one of our biggest export nation. The Leave Campaign not only fucked their own economy, the possible future of the EU and the UK but the economy of a lot of other countries. This will hurt a lot of families. I hope everything will be better than the predictions but I really fear for it.

Cameron fleeing the scene. The prick called this thing because he wanted to secure his legacy and appease his party, then when it backfires against him he runs away. http://www.theguardian.com/politics/2016/jun/24/david-cameron-resigns-after-uk-votes-to-leave-european-union

"The Labour leader, Jeremy Corbyn, had earlier called for the prime minster to trigger article 50 immediately.“The whole point of the referendum was that the public would be asked their opinion, they’ve given that opinion and it’s up to parliament to act on that opinion.”

Agent Corbyn reveals his true leanings.

Labour campaign to remain was pretty bad. Pretty obvious his heart wasn't in it.

Corbyn should resign as well.

Labour were an absolute joke in this refrendum and it was their voters who gifted this to the Brexiters.

Tim Farron:

It came as Tim Farron, the Liberal Democrat leader, accused Mr Corbyn of "utter spinelessness" for not having done more to encourage Labour voters to reject a Brexit vote.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/24/jeremy-corbyn-calls-for-brexit-process-to-begin-urgently-as-labo/

Really? Blame the opposition for the clusterfuck caused by the PM and the party in government?

It had to be a shared platform. Something Corbyn wouldn't do. The guy has to accept partial blame

Can you blame him for not wanting to share a platform after the absolute demolition job that was performed on Scottish Labour after they did just that in the Indy Ref campaign?

Well, English Labour are going to be looked down upon either way. They've been fucking useless under Corbyn.

Like it or not the people wanted a referendum. I wasn't against them having a referendum. If Labour didn't have a soggy biscuit for a leader I honestly believe Remain could have swayed many of those Northern leave votes. Instead it was left to Cameron to convince people who despise him.

I agree that Cameron should step down. I just think that Labour also need to put their hands up and admit they didn't do their part in convincing their voters to back remain.

I honestly believe Remain could have swayed many of those Northern leave votes. Instead it was left to Cameron to convince people who despise him.

Remember when Labour saved Cameron in the Scottish referendum and were then wiped out in the general election as their former voters took revenge?

And it's particularly hilarious coming from Farron whose party has been reduced to an irrelevant rump for also saving the Tories by propping up their government for five years.

Corbyn has been pretty smart for giving pro forma support to the remain campaign without permanently causing disaffection amongst working class and eurosceptic voters.

Hard to disagree. The campaign really needed a left wing voice and Corbyn was utterly silent the entire run.

Tim Farron is not holding back. Good. Corbyn was dodging the issue when being interviewed on Sky News.

Tim Farron said on BBC this morning

"this isn't about party politics" then in the next sentence blamed Corbyn and Labour for the entire thing.

He is right about one thing, it wasn't party politics. Both Labour and Conservatives were split, left and right was split, there was no real defining political characteristic of a leave or remain supporter.

Blaming the leader of the party, whether it Corbyn or Cameron, is entirely unfair in my opinion. There was no way to rally their troops to vote because it wasn't an issue that either of their ideologies had control over.

Corbyn's historically been critical of the EU for very different reasons to Farage, so it's basically an unfortunate coincidence.

Corbyn was mixed over the issue and only reluctantly decided stay was the better choice. Considering that is how most of the stay people felt he did the right thing. Why should he go full throttle into something he's ambivalent about?

Because he's the leader of a political party and needs to follow his party's line with conviction.

In which case Labour voters should consider whether that is the leader they want running the party.

If you had told me this time last year that David Cameron was going to resign as PM, I would've been ecstatic. But not under these circumstances...

Well, Cameron will go down in history with the legacy of splitting a 600 year old union, potentially breaking the EU up, and ruining a previously prosperous nation... All to make a quick political buck.

Is this a straight swap or will there now be an October general election?

It doesn't make sense to me that we might now have a PM nobody voted for.

Nobody votes for the PM, they vote for their local MPs.

Really, the PM is just who the majority party say it is, most often the party leader but it doesn't have to be. We don't actually vote in our PM, we vote for our MP.

A straight swap after a leadership battle in the Tory party is an option. That didn't work well for Gordon Brown, many are calling for a snap election.

Short answer: fuck knows what's happening.

It could go either way.

Because the length of term left is quite long (unlike when Gordon Brown became primeminister) it's likely a new Tory will become PM and then another election will be called.

[–]Azazel_fallenangelGloucestershire...Well, Forest of Dean really... 1

It's happened before, when Tony Blair stepped down and Gordon Brown took over.

The vote was for the party who are to rule, in this case the Conservatives, and the party leader becomes PM. You don't vote not for David Cameron as PM in particular. The Conservatives will hold a vote, and select someone themselves.

It'll be a swap.

You don't vote for pm; you vote for a local mp

He ruined 300 years of stability and prosperity.

We ruined 300 years of stability and prosperity.

There is a reason parents don't let the kids decide what's for dinner, otherwise it's always ice cream and cereal.

He ruined 300 years of stability and prosperity.

Did you mean to put 30?

I didn't support Brexit, but I don't think you can describe the early 20th century as "stability and prosperity".

RULE BRITANNIA, AS BRITANNIA SINKS BENEATH THE WAVES.

And Cameron sails off in his yacht to a tax haven watching as the country he ran for 6 years sinks. Spineless git.

He is now a serious risk to our nation's security, our economy's security and your family's security.

Can we have a new general election?

Oh wait there's no point, the electorate are idiots.

This is the attitude that helped remain loose. Turns out telling people that want to leave are idiots / racists / stupid does not win them over. Hopefully USA learns from this and addresses the concerns of the trump supporters rather than righting them off and insulting them or it's not inconceivable the'll have an absolute nut job for a president.

I tried using arguments backed by facts and statistics. Seriously look at my post history for the last few days (except for today, I've been pretty childish today because that's my only recourse), there's more than one post that is several paragraphs long explaining how the EU is as (if not more) democratic and how the economy will tank if we leave.

But at this point it's all academic so all I can do now is call them idiots.

Well to be honest I used facts as well when I defended leaving. Did not stop everyone here voting me down. Just showed me how shallow people really thought about the issues.

Meh. It is all moot now, but I do feel sympathy for the remainers even though I know if the roles were reversed I'd get nothing but crowing of how wonderful it is they voted for the status quo.

I hope leaving is the right decision. I really do. I want the country to be better and stronger than it was before. I just don't really see how.

At the very least Scotland is going to leave. I think we can all agree that's a given. So the UK will already be dimished regardless.

How are you supposed to convince people who are so easily convinced to actively disregard input from people who are actually employed in relevant fields?

Article 50 not to be triggered until the new leader is in place. Cue conspiracy theories

Hey Boris, here's your baby, now it's up to you to change the nappies!

He will be gone by October

I can't wait to vote in this new prime minister, oh wait.

Who would have thought Tony Blair's Mr Unpopular title would pass to someone else so soon.

I'm not a Tory supporter but I'd like to see David Davies become the leader.

Oh yeah.. The only Tory I actually like because he has his head screwed on with respect to information technology, civil rights and privacy. Sadly I feel he is but a minority.

Just over a year ago Farage resigned and Cameron was re-confirmed as PM.

George Osborne will go as well. Hopefully that ends this insane austerity / budget surplus suicide that the country has been going through over the last 6 years.

I'm clutching at straws here.
