American here (family came over from Wales in 1600s so Wales has a special place in my heart). Can y'all explain why Wales is so against Brexit?
Being American, my cultural history is one of fighting tooth and nail against being ruled by non-local people. After all, we fought several wars about that. So from my perspective, since many (not enough) in Wales want independence from Britain, what is different about Brussels?
I understand the EU is not a government in the same way that Britain is a government. But they still do hand down policies, etc.
There may be bad financial ramifications for Wales if Brexit happens?
I realize this confusion is my own fault, since I'm over here with no context of the EU and a totally different cultural history concerning government and such.
Help a decentralized government American understand ;)
