Yet doesn't this make the assumption that things are the way they were in the 1950s when women were stay-at-homes or working part time jobs? How does this theory work when many women work full time jobs that pay just as much as their male colleagues? How common would it be for a woman working a secure full time job to desire a husband significantly wealthier/qualified than her when she's already financially stable?

Many couples work as a financial duo so they can better cope with costs of living rather than the growingly outdated notion that a man provides for his wife.
