Skyrim: Legendary edition was removed from steam and replaced with Skyrim + dlc bundle. This bundle costs $65 USD(excluding sales) and it's being advertised as Legendary edition which used to cost $40 USD(excluding sales). It appears they have raised the price after the announcement of the remaster edition being free to whoever owns the Legendary edition

Bethesda is just taking notes from Rockstar with the whole GTA5 fiasco.

Companies are going to continue pulling this bullshit + selling 80% a game for retail and 20% more as "DLC" because sheep are going to continue to pay for it.

I'm sorry, but this isn't exactly "bullshit". If you could pay $15 and get both Legendary Edition AND the upgraded version for free, people would pile on. This way, they have to pay a larger cost to get the enhanced version for free.

The free upgrade is for people who already owned it, not for people just trying to jump on the bandwagon for a cheap upgraded edition.

This is the definition of "bullshit" They had the LE on Steam, and pulled it just as the sale started. Why not just not put it on sale in the first place, instead of this deceptive crap trying to make people think they're getting LE on sale. You can also get a copy on Amazon or WalMart for $20.
Or you know, they could just actually develop a new game instead of just redoing the textures to a 5 year old game and releasing it again. We already have mods for that and have had for years.
Their plan is to cash in from the console players who don't get a free upgrade.
Fuck them. After the shitshow that was fallout 4 I'll never give them money again.
They could sell the game for 1.99 and I'd still prefer get it from TPB.

        Actuallly id say that bethesda raised the price up since theyve announced that anyone with skyrim will have the remastered edition for free when i comes out in october so id imagine that they raised the price up to match with the remastered release price.

          Snag up the Elder Scrolls Anthology, it's all of the Elder Scrolls games in their legendary form. I got mine for $20 dollars on Amazon.

          Get rocket league. Skyrim is only good for when you have several hours to play games. For the average person a game like rocket league which has short matches is much better. Downside is that it's a multiplayer game, meaning that once the servers go down you have to wait for an alternative to the servers.

          All DLCs in rocket league are cosmetic, so you only need to buy them if you want one of the cars/flags/boosts. But you have a whole bunch of customization options without buying any DLC, so it's up to you.

          Skip Skyrim and look for the "Legendary" boxed copy online - it's functionalyl a steam code.

          if you have a Walmart near you see if they have any in their PC gaming section - Last Christmas they were $20. - non sale price.

          This is a scam price - not at all a real sale price. IIRC winter sale had skyrim Legenday as low as $15/$10. They are keeping the price high because of the announced "free" visual 64bit upgrade.

          Yes - the Wal-mart box copy contains the steam key. I bought it for a friend last christmas and am looking directly at their account now on steam and they have it unlocked.

          I bought the box copy - sent it to them (spent more than the digital actually) because I purposely wanted to send them something to unwrap.

          The Boxed Skyrim Legendary Edition comes with a key to digitally download via Steam.

            Depends if you are okay with paying more than double than other people did from the last sale. If you really really want it? I guess you don't have many other choices. You could try to find a legendary edition on other websites for $15-20. They come with a steam key.

            No? Why wouldn't you be able to? To get the remaster for free you just have to have all the DLC, which you are still totally able to do, you just costs more than it did before the remaster announcement.

              Right... This thread has gotten me a tad bit irritated with how everyone is handling this situation right now. Not because Bethesda raised the price, but how are acting like this is another GTA:V scenario. I like to make a few things stright before i continue with my post.

              (And one thing i would like to note before continuing. I'm in a lot of pain at 12:43am at the time of typing this out so please bare with me for a moment. If things are misspelt or things dont make sense. I'll try to correct them in the morning when i'm not on painkillers )

              1. I have purchased this DLC bundle and unlike op i'm a bit in two minds about this whole situation.
              2. This is nothing like GTA:V Shark card issue.
              3. This has happen'd before with company's taking down a certain edition after raising the price of another edition.
              4. Though i may come across as defending this issue. I do not agree with Bethesda or any company taking this type of action.

              Now let me explain my points:

              First of all, i have purchased this DLC bundle. Before Skyrim remastered got announced, i had not owned any of the DLCs on PC due to having no real insentive to do so. I did play them and completed them with over 50+ hours on each DLC. Except the house one, not something i'm fond off. As for the other DLCs i really enjoyed them. I thought the price alone of 20 euro each was well worth it. Defiantly!

              So when i saw the skyrim remastered was rolling around soon and to anyone who owned all the DLCs or the legendary edition on PC got a 'free' 'upgrade' . Needless to say i bought into it. Not because of the graphics or maybe even gameplay enhancement? But because of the 64 bit version that was coming with it. I'm a very avid modder and love to run as many mods as possible to improve my gameplay. But with how unstable skyrim gets after 50+ mods things become unplayable. Maybe i'm just bad at modding, who knows? But i believe this will differently help out those creators and modders.

              So i said to myself to get the DLCs no matter what when the steam sales rolled around again. Sure enough they did, i picked them up for 20 euro and never looked back. Untill i saw this thread. My hearth sank for a moment that i had picked up the wrong version and i wasted money. But i said to myself that 20 euro for 3 DLCs in which i got more than enough content is well worth it. Even though they 'raised' the price of the base game + DLCs it all comes down to, is it worth it? Yes, defiantly 100 times over. I encourage people to buy this because you will have the time off your life with these DLCs if you got skyrim

              But...

              I do not agree with how Bethesda handled this. But before i get into it i want to address a comparison here. A major one that people are striving to compare against. And that is the comparison against this and GTA:V shark card debacle. This is as about as similar as calling Arma and GTA clones because they both have guns and vehicles. From the outside its may look the same but inside its very different.

              First of all R* boosted the price of there game by bundling it with unnecessary DLC that no one knew about unless the read the fine print. It was a ruse and as such i hate it. But that's not what Bethesda are doing here. You can still get your base Skyrim for 5 euro or whatever it is with no tricks. There is no Ruse happing here. Just them removing an old version and replacing it with the DLC bundle. And hell one of the things i see is people going "I bought my legendary edition for 5 euro last sale." Just because it was 5 euro last sale does not mean it will be 5 euro this sale. Hell they could have kept the legendary version and still matched it with the DLC bundle and no one would have blinked and Eye, The PSA would read. Should have bought Skyrim last sale. Looks like there're not budging with this price since Skyrim remastered is coming out.

              Which is a business practice practiced by almost every game company out there. Look at EA, Look at Ubisoft. Hell look at Payday. They have removed countless versions that have been cheaper and replaced them with bundles and no one bats and eye.

              But there is one more thing i would like to point out. Though this post maybe coming across as defending this business practice. I'm not! I will get that stright, i did not defend R* and i'm defending Bethesda with how similar it maybe. I for one thing Bethesda should have kept the legendary edition up for people to buy but reduce the price to 20 euro in total for the base game and all the DLCS. And to those who who managed to grab it before the price 'went up' congrats on managing to snag a amazing deal. It was well worth it, for 5 euro or even 30 euro.

              And please, do not pirate (Edit: or even buy it on G2A) the DLC just because the price went up. These DLCs are amazing and well worth the 20 euro or 25 euro price tag. Now if you'll excuse me it's 1:11am at the time of finishing this and i think my painkillers wore off.

              I never compared it to the GTA:V shark card thing although I did see some comments about it. I am aware how the GTA:V shark card sale was a little shitty but fully legit.

              There will be some people who will want Legendary edition and can buy it if they want. I just wanted to bring attention to the fact that Bethesda raised the price(and by a considerable amount too) of their game after announcing that you get the remastered version free if you own it. I do wish I had just made the title "Bethesda raises price of Skyrim: Legendary Edition".

              I also wished I had gotten the numbers for the price changes in more currencies. Just using the USD numbers wasn't too accurate but not any less true.

However, some people in this feel they really need to bring the heat on Bethesda for something that would have happend with or with out the Legendary Edition.                 Most games come with a steam key these days as far as I'm aware. I'm trying to find out for sure though. It should be like everybody else's copy.

                edit: It does appear that as long as you buy it new you will get a steam key.

                While that sucks, yes (I got skyrim legendary for 13.50 I think), It's not really surprising since it now effectively comes with the remaster. they are charging for the work they put into the new patch, I don't blame them. I think that if you don't own skyrim, buy it anyway. So you pay more, I have about 500 hours in skyrim, more than twice any other game. It's a great game and you owe it to yourself to play it. 25 dollars is NOTHING for the amount of fun and time you'll get out of it.

                You can look for a physical version of legendary edition. There are still some around and they go for $15-20 USD or Elder Scrolls Anthology which sells for $20-25 in some places and comes with all Elder Scrolls games and all DLC.

                I'd ask you to not. There are other avenues to get the Legendary Edition for a decent price- maybe not 10 quid, but close. Someone higher said through amazon you can get it for 13 euro.

                The "box" copies, of which there are plenty - can be found through more honest marketplaces. Possibly even at one of your local stores - In the US we can still find the boxed Legenday in Walmart for $20US

                  Its 30€ for me. YOu can use the 20OFF code to get 20% off most games. Nevermind the fact that GMG is an authorized seller with legit keys, unlike g2a. On g2a the Legendary edition is ~21€ add 3€ ontop of that (providing you use the "20OFF" code) and you get a legit copy of the game from GMG and you dont have to worry about anything.

                  You can find the boxed legendary edition (which is a steam code) from "Brick and mortar" retailers for about 20 - Walmart is an example - if they have any.

                  You can find them online through things like Amazon floating between 20-24$

                  You can get it cheaper on G2A but G2A isn't a good outlet for keys as they actually do hurt developers. You might as well pirate it at that point.
