I believe it had something to do with the code being a total shit show and therefore not worth it.

From what I have read about this previously, they way they built the console version it is not cost effective to port to PC, they would have to basically start from scratch. I am not sure why this is so much different/harder to port but R* has said they will not be porting to PC ever. But hopefully the sequel (or when/wherever the next Red dead takes place) will be available for PC at launch.

god red dead redemption on pc would be amazing. the zombie dlc would make me cry in happiness and hopefully it will be bug free.

RDR is my fav game so far this year. Better than any GTA released. It's beautiful and immersive. Hopefully it's released on PC so more ppl can enjoy it.. There's also a Jose Gonzalez track which makes it even more WIN

I would gladly purchase a PC version of the game. I am an avid gamer, however I don't and will not purchase any game console. There are a lot of PC enthusiasts who build powerful gaming rigs. We refuse to buy a lesser machine which has no other purpose than to play games, when our rigs can play great (and highly moddable) games, PhotoShop, rip music and video, surf the web, create custom apps and do office work.

There must be some issue that is stopping a RDR port, maybe the RAGE engine just doesn't like PC's. Would explain why GTA4 was such a BAD port. But seriously Rockstar you port this to PC you get MONEY! Lots of DO$H!

(Supposedly) There were a lot of problems during production: the developers struggled to make what they had work, they were being pushed really hard by Rockstar, and it was costing Rockstar a ridiculous amount of money at the time.

They gave the peasants ammo when GTAV was first announced by not confirming a pc port. Peasants used it as a reason to justify peasantry and wasted countless hours arguing with brothers. Those brothers could have been playing glorious games instead of arguing with peasants. Wasting time is a grave sin. I will never forgive Rockstar. Assholes. If you gave pc gamers an open world western, such as Red Dead Redemption, they would devour it. Mods would be plenty and it would be played for years.

Two things- I'd do unspeakable things for an updated RDR that came out on PC (modding) It's probably one of the few games I actually got emotionally involved in. Such an amazing game. I'd lose my shit if they did another. GTA is great but it's feeling CODish for some reason, like same concept just updated graphics and some new features. Being a badass motherfucker in the west was such a great feeling compared to some psycho in los santos.

I just don't understand the logic of Rockstar. So, okay, let's spend our resources on porting niche detective sim (L.A. noire) on the PC that might or might not sale well...what about this Western GTA PC players were raving about? Naah fuck it.

personally i hate rockstar for favoring consoles and they are clearly money whores. gta 4 had terrible optimization even high end pc dropped frames. i also read in some article that gta 4 would have been ps3 exclusive, seriously? max payne 3 did have better performance but that's it. they didn't bring the red dead redemption to pc.

As a PC-only gamer, RDR is one of the few things I'm actually pretty jealous of. On PC, being a fan of Rockstar is like willingly committing to an abusive relationship.

From what I've read in several places, the sole reason they haven't is because RDR is just absolute spaghetti code, to the point they'd have to basically remake the game from scratch in order to port it to PC.
