You know, i'm not 100% sure! Obviously there's a lot of stuff you can't quite quantify when it comes to gauging the individual impact of (what is essentially) a single advertisment. But that's just the beginning, obviously there's money in Youtube views. However, Youtube licensing and royalties is an absolute minefield of conflicting nonsense that's tough to interpret, and of course depends on your particular record deal. All I know is that on our bi-annual statements from the label, there's a mystery column called "digital revenues", which seems to be implying that these videos are paying for themselves by the time they hit 1 million views or so.

i've read them all. it gets worse haha. problem i found with it, like with a lot of scifi is, the characters don't act like real people. i guess that's a natural side effect of scifi authors being a weird bunch of nerds in general.

I read The Long Earth recently, it's pretty good, but you can really tell where the dry style of Baxter takes over from Pratchett.

I made this: Sabaton - Greatest Hits

You should be able to recognise all these Sabaton songs, and they all have the same chorus. There's a bunch more I could have added in, but that would require me to listen to sabaton to jog my memory of their songs. Off the top of my head...Uprising, Midway, Resist&Bite all fit. Amusingly, I made this a few days before their new song came out...and it would fit perfectly in here.

Every lyricist i know (myself included) swears by rhymezone.com. In my opinion rhyming is awesome and everything should have a rhyming structure.

there's a video of Gloryhammer doing some acoustic versions of songs at Graspop festival. all the keyboards are played on a kazoo. it's amazing. i worry it's disappeared from the internet though :(

I never imagined this to be true and at the same time I'm not surprised. It explains all of the bands that do what Powerwolf do.

I think that's giving too much credit to the record labels. Really, they're pretty passive organisations for the most part. But yeah, it's very very tempting as a band to write 2 good songs and make the rest of the album be filler, because why not? The end result will be the same. You'll still sell just as many copies. It's not like you were gonna play those other songs live anyway. Metal is one of the few genres these days where fans are all about buying full albums...even though they only really care about 1 or 2 songs in reality.
