CNN Runs Down a List of the ‘Not True’ Things Trump Said Today
CNN’s Tom Foreman took a red pen to Donald Trump‘s speech Wednesday morning, which excoriated Hillary Clinton as crooked, untrustworthy, and lacking the temperament to be president.
CNN hosts noted that the address marked a shift in Trump’s rhetorical strategy, as the presumptive GOP nominee made use of teleprompters and kept the ad-libbing to a relative minimum. Although, John Berman noted that he still “said things that were not true”
Foreman said that Trump was “simply false” in his claim that Clinton wanted to bring “hundreds of thousands” of Syrian refugees into the country. She has spoken of bringing in 65,000 refugees in the near future, compared with President Obama‘s current goal of bringing in 10,000 by September.
He added that Trump’s blasting Washington (and Clinton) for the loss of manufacturing jobs, while failing to mention the large number of jobs his companies have outsourced to China and Central America, was “misleading.”
Foreman encouraged viewers to check out CNN’s Reality Check here, where Trump’s claims will be fact-checked throughout the day.
